So i just did a rebuild to my girls car and got a new short block l67 and installed an XP cam and stage 2 heads. I finished putting everything back together and reinstalled the motor and started it yesterday and there was ALOT of loud taping coming from the front head area...in person it is all coming from rockers. I had spare rockers and tried replacing the ones in but still the rockers were really loud. Could something have gotten stick in the cylinders causing this......i think a piece of styrofoam piece may have gotten stuck in cylinder 3 valve area of the heads from when i took them out of the box. But i know for sure its not a lower end knock. No codes but a p0300 misfire code.

Don't know if this helps but the heads have 130# springs also.

Wait.... Are you telling us, that there is a piece of Styrofoam in the engine.

The front too... And you're wondering what the tick is?

Yes I am using reusable arp bolts.

I am saying there might be because the ported heads came in a box with little Styrofoam pelits like that ones you buy when shipping. I'm not sure if that would cause it I dont know....

I'm thinking of removing the front head and checking but will I have to buy a new head gasket? The current one is brand new.

Styrofoam wouldn't last long in the motor. It's not that

Leave the head on. It's not your issue.

How long was the motor running when you took this vid? Sounds a lot like lifters that haven't pumped up. Did you soak them in oil before installing, were they new, stock pushrods?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Lifters were used and no I didn't soak them before installing them....I didn't think I needed to because they were kind of oily when I installed them from the bag I kept them in. The pushrods are stock and the motor was running for a few minutes before i started recording....

    Answer my second question.

    You might have junk lifters.

I wouldn't condemn then until you check to see whats going on.

Mine locked up and held all of the valves open. Very easy to spot once the valve covers off.
