I cant say what tools you would need. Ive bought the seals but have never installed them.

i finally decided to get off my lazy ass and do the valve stem seals. it wasnt too bad, mainly the rear was frustrating but that was to be expected. so i did the seals and it still smokes just as much. i decided to do a compression test. 2 cylinders had about 150-175 psi. the other 4 cylinders were about 75-100 psi YAY!!

    I smell worn rings seals.

The low pressure can be caused by bad ring seals, slightly bent/stretched valves, or other valvetrain issues that can keep the valves from closing all the way.

indeed, i think the thrasher s/c pulley caused premature wear on the engine , the person i bought the car from had it on there , and the damn pulley is real small

Hmmm smaller pulley of unknown size, who knows what was done to it before you got it and how it was treated. It's possible that someone laid a pulley on it and didn't tune it. Have you done a compression test?? I wouldn't be surprised if you have a cracked or chipped piston.

Like to see the inside of that motor to see what damage the previous owner has done.

When doing the compression test you did turn each cylinder over for the same amount of time correct? Usually for about 5 cranks per cylinder.

int eh videos you posted, im hearing a clicking that increases with engine speed..some type of valvetrain noise thats too loud.

the previous owner probabaly messed somethign up there.

if you want to, since you seem to know what youre doing, pull the sc belt off, take a string, wrap it around the pulley in one of the grooves, measure the length of string it takes to go around the pulley one time, divde by 3.14 and theres your pulley size.

In the vid, looks like it may be a 3 or 3.2 pulley. possibly a 3.4. Looks a hair smaller than mine though.

yeah, it has a bad lifter tick on cold start, when warm its quiet, only when you open up the throttle does it return. somebody hot rodded the hell out of the car and didnt care to keep it maintained in the process. im not mad about though. i was looking for an engine to rebuild lol

and your pulley size method is good to know, i will try that later
