Check your 3rd brake light and if the bulbs are still good check to see if it works in 3rd gear.
This paragraph is from Rossler Transmission Inc.
3 speed and overdrive transmissions: Caution never shift into neutral position at high speeds. This will cause internal components of the transmission to rotate 2 and ½ times faster than your finish line RPM. (Example, If your car’s finish line RPM is 7,500 RPM’S and the Transmission is shifted to neutral then the internal components will spin at 15,000 RPM’s THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! The parts are spinning so fast, they can explode, turning your transmission into a shrapnel type bomb possibly causing bodily injury and death.
At one time the cruise in my GTP stopped working also, and it turned out to be that the 3rd brake light bulbs where both blown out. After installing new bulbs, the cruise control functioned normal again.
Meh. I was getting on the interstate one time and I thought it was in 3 so I was gonna shift to D and let it go into 4th. Well apparently I was in D and it went into N. It was no problem for me. Granted I'd never do it on purpose. Also, one of my bulbs in the 3rd brake light is out and cruise still works. Odd.
We arent saying that doing it once is going to make everything explode into a ball of fire, but if one continues to do it, its going to wear something out sooner or later.
Lol I know. I didn't mean it like that But the same is true with many things, the whole damn thing is gonna wear out eventually.
Thanks for the info on the transmission.. never thought about it that way.
Changed the Cruise box on the fender. still doesn't work.
please correct me if i am wrong,
the trac control uses the wheel sensors to 'see' a difference in wheel speed.
there transmission will have a input speed sensor(shift points and the like).Or would that be engine speed(rpm)?
and an output sensor. is there only one 'output' sensor.
Sorry. I'm not of much help. I still have no cruise. It's going into the shop for an O2 sensor this week. Hopefully he can help us out
If your high mount brake light had a bulb out or you have led bulbs in there it will stop your cruise control. I know from experience.
Odd. I have one of the bulbs out in the 3rd light. Works fine.
All have to be out for cruise to not work
