I'm going to be intercooling soon and am taking off my lim so i figured while i was in there I'd delete the balance shaft if it's fairly easy to do. I read a while back about some plug that fit in there but can't find anything now. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The plug is a cam bearing from a Dodge IIRC. The easy way to do it is remove the engine and stuff.

The plugs have been shown to fail, pretty sure Reptile's poly plug didn't like being in there.

You can leave the gear in there and remove the shaft, but in order to remove the gear and all the oil ports have to be flushed at a machine shop...ala, block totally apart, oil port drilled, tapped, and a plug put in. Which is what I had done.

You might know this but you have to take the front cover off to disable the gear.
I left my balance shaft in but it's currently disabled.

Well if I'm going to have to do that I'll just leave it. If I'm pulling the front cover its not going back on without my s1x in there

I wouldn't worry about it then if you plan on installed a cam.

I forgot about the gear cover from the front cover.

    Fry's got it there.

I know on the 4G63 platform every pound of rotating mass removed from the rotating assembly that isn't needed was rated on average 5-7CHP...not to mention the lighter, quicker revving motor...more efficient as well so you'd probably see small gains on MPG's as well.

Your balance shaft is 2500 g, l36 is around 1900 iirc.

Probably off on the numbers, but the l67 is heavier and 4-5 lbs. What speed does the balance shaft spin at compared to the cam? Even if its the same, thats still half speed

If you are going double roller. Remove the gear, leave the shaft. Or .. machine shop.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
