Thread: can't get rid of P0135!!

Ok so I have been trying to get rid of this p0135 code for a while now with no luck. First things first,

installed a brand new delphi 02 sensor upstream. Erased the code with the scanner. 3 days later the same code comes back up.

Bring the car back in and they run diagnostics to check what the problem could be, then they say that the sensor itself may be the issue with the sensor itself getting a reading of 8 ohms (suppose to be 5 ohms)?

Where else could I go from here? Another sensor is going to run like 150$

I had this code for a month or two and had a similar issue. Ended up being a vacuum hose leak. Do a smoke test! Can't hurt anything...

anyone know if the shop is correct in saying that 8 ohms on the sensor is a bad reading or are they wasting my time?

I may be wrong here, but o2's output voltage... You dont necessarily go by resistance to call it faulty.

I'd get a voltmeter and test it yourself. Make sure engine is up to temp and check for it fluctuating around .5-.9v.

Whats a p0135? Mind writing what the name of the code is?

Oxygen O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction

Make sure the harness isnt damaged. Sometimes the wires can short together causing this code. Also, what thermostat are you running? This code will be thrown if the O2 sensor takes too long to heat up.

Had the mechanic run diagnostics on it. Harness seemed fine. i am running a 180 t stat but the code was there before I put that in if I can remember. The code came up a year ago and I am trying to get rid of it in the past month or so. so def not the t stat.

engine light doesn't wanna go away!!!

If all else fails just tune the code out.

never thought of that..but then would have to send pcm in to overkill most likely as I don't tune.
