Best way to replace the bank 1 oxygen sensor coming off of the exhaust manifold?
its so far down tho D;
your looking to get the one in the exhaust manifold, by the back spark plugs?
to make more room, un bolt the dog bones from the engine to the rad support, use a ratchet strap to hold the engine forward, that will give you 3 more inches of room to see and work.
a lot of us do this to change the rear plugs, makes it easy if you have large hands like myself.
Can you PLEASE make a video on how? I have no idea how to do that :c
its all to easy, just take the bolt out of each end of the dog bone, ( 14 mm i think) its the bar that goes from the engine to the radiator, one on each side. so 4 bolts in total.
take a ratchet strap hook it around the snout of the blower and hook it to a hole in the rad support, pull the engine towards you and tighten the strap. done.
now look in the back side and pull the o2 sensor out. its like dead center of the engine.
this is really a 15 minute job. dont over think it.
I changed one in my old car about a year ago and it wasn't too bad to do. I didnt have the socket Scotty mentioned(which would have made things much easier), but it can be done with a stubby wrench, 7/8 if I remember right. I didnt have enough room to get a full length wrench in there and have room to turn it; but I didnt rock the engine foward either.
I spent the money on the o2 socket and 18" extension. Was easy as pie if you dont mind spending the money.
