I bought a complete L67 from a guy and he had a extra blower, ecm, harness etc so i was checking out the blower and the coupler seems really tight.I cleaned the SC with a pressure washer i didnt spray it directly inside but am sure some got in.Anyway after i did that it seemed kinda harder to turn i cleaned the gasket area i dont think any got into the housing but i looked in the damn thing and the rotors look ok? but the housing doesnt look so hot.I have never seen the inside of a factory mass produced SC but it looks like the area for the rotors is either cut really rough or the rotors been rubbing the housing. It wasnt very smooth looking, so you think the bearings are bad and it caused this? i have another but its not out of the car i can compare too but to me it looks like junk lol???I cant really get a good pic of it..

You could always take out the bolts on the snout and pull the rotors out. Then you'll be able to see a bit better. You will lose all of the SC oil though if you do that.

I am not sure guys looked black and oily it looked like crap, when i spun it at the guys house i thought it felt great as far as the coupler thats all i knew about them. After i cleaned it up a little maybe when i scrapped off the gaskets some got inside. After i pressure washed it it was hard to turn.I think i will blow it out with the air compressor and see if that helps. To be honest i was going to sell the top swap pieces i have one full set up and another partial. But i am not going to sell it to someone as good if its not.The housing and rotors looked kinda galled to me but its the first one i have ever looked in.I have the one i am getting ready to pull so i will look in there when i get it out to use to go by but it looked like crap to me like junk.I will likely do what Mj said or wait and see if a buyer wants to inspect it that way idk.We have a borescope at work its older not sure if i could take a pic with it or not.

You can remove the rotor pack with the front drive (snout) still attached if you are careful. Inside of supercharger housing should be smooth. Scarring indicates bad rotor pack bearings.

Yeah it looks bad it was black and oily but looked scarred I have my air compressor tore apart right now i am going to fix it and blow it out and go from there. If its scarred its pretty much junk isnt it? The rotors would never seal right? If its the rotor bearings wouldnt it have side to side play on the pulley? I have the top swap listed on ebay i have another blower in the car with a rod knocking.I wont sell it to anyone if its junk i just didnt know how the tolerances where on these. The aftermarket blowers i have seen looked real smooth this wasnt at all.

I've had two M90s so far.

Both have shown that and both have worked quite well. By that I mean in combination with an intercooler and rockers, 100+ whp.

Wouldn't surprise me to see most cases scarred in this manor.

I blew the blower out it had some intake gasket pieces in it.From when i cleaned it up.I guess its ok to me it looks like the rotors was hitting the case in a couple areas but it would do it in more than just one area. The engine it came off of must have ran like crap cause the housing and back of the throttle body had a few thousands built up of black carbon. That probably why the rotors looked scuffed cause it was rubbing on the buildup.I dont know I will likely keep one of the blowers and put it on a regal LS i have i will go in and inspect it before i just bolt it on and call it good, atleast break it open check the bearings, couple, and change the oil.

We all would like to be able to take the blower apart and have it look like

But realistically, a hard use, high mileage blower of any kind will end up looking more like this

^ Hopefully with more coating on the rotor packs, but my old M90 when pulled apart some of the coating was off and the inside of the casing was brown and gunky looking, apparently this is normal and I am just a neat freak.

However, if yours looks like this

note the burnt spots and burnt bearings, and the ground marks in the sides.... this is bad.

How would you say yours ranks compared to these?

    The coating is grey.

black and brown is carbon from EGR.

It had some spots like that but nothing like that, it was mostly on the front edge of one side but its so carboned up its hard to tell. But it damn sure looks like its hit metal to metal in one place.Maybe the bearing on that side of the rotor is just starting to get a little loose idk.I am going to end up porting one of them and will learn a little more then .You guys have been a big help should have my mild modded daily driver on the road in the next couple weeks.
