Ok, so I was planning on using a Ford Lightening ic res but its just too big to fit anywhere under the hood. I'm looking for suggestions for a new tank now (something easily available) . Anyone?

I may just walk the junkyard this weekend and see what I can find. I figure a coolant tank from a little 4 banger might work.

If you have a home made air intake the coolant bottle from a 97-98 gp would work.

If I don't use a res how do you bleed the system?

Also I know guys have used a cobra res with success but I doubt I'll find one in the junkyard.

One more question, does the res tank need to be the highest point of the system, I'm 99.9% sure it does just want to confirm.
I don't think a 98 w-body coolant res would be higher than the ic core, but I could be wrong...

    Thanks for your help!

    It helps.

I used my car's stock res and added the flow detect kit as well. You can hear the fluid screaming through my overflow in the vid. It's kinda funny. Worked great for bleeding.

You are correct, it's not a GP. But hopefully it gives you ideas.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks TLS. How are you guys connecting the lines to the res? Just drilling holes and using the standard 3/4" tubing in and right back out? Or?

all depends... go without one and test the in/out temps to see the difference...

reason I say that is because when I (I as in like 5 other guys) originally put the IC on I didn have a res... was gonna just add one on sometime...

Then... I did a temp test after some highway driving and then after some around town driving...

With the highway, temps were like ~10* above ambient... around town was ~15-20* above ambient... this was on a ~65* day

Another local with pretty much the same IC setup (think he had a different HE but still similar dimensions) had pretty much the same numbers with a res...
