I had my motor oil changed yesterday, now question.
If i remmember right, it takes 4.5 quarts of motor oil???
Cause, the dude poured 5 quarts, now its a little over the full line on the dip stick.
Is it going to be a problem??

It is 4.5 quarts to full. The extra .5 quart won't hurt you a bit. And is good cause your engine will use a little.

    Don't worry about it.

I intentionally overfill mine a bit past the full mark and have done so on many vehicles over time with no ill effects. You got maybe about a .5 quart or so of play there and about .5qt would be about I would overfill anyway.

As long as it isn't way over the full line. If that happens, it can cause leaks at the main seals, can touch the crank and get churned to a froth, let the froth get sucked up and doesn't lubricate as well, and I think you can guess the outcome.

A bit past is fine; a lot past is no good.

That really already occurs when the oil is filled normally. Its called a windage cloud and, a trick used by old school racers and still used today, to reduce that cloud and reclaim the horsepower it steals is to use crank scrapers.

Ive seen some for the Series I 3800, but have not seen any for the Series II & III engines. I contacted a guy that makes them a long time ago to see if he would make a set for the Series II. He was very willing to do so but needed a Series II bottom end to get the fitment right.

I always put a full 5 quarts in when I change the oil, no big deal at all.
