the other day my car was losing power while driving kept shutting off but start right back up i figure it was the fuel pump because it was humming real bad so i change the fuel pump with a new fuel pump when i put the new fuel pump in the car ran perfect wiith no issues but when i cut the car off it sat for a few hrs came back out the car wouldnt start anymore but now i just look at the box on the new fuel i bought from this guy it say for 99 and 00 is that the reason my car wont start even though it ran for a while with that fuel pump and another thing my car is a 97

So when your car wouldn't start anymore, it would just crank and crank but not fire up? When you turn the key to the "On" position do you hear the fuel pump prime for a few seconds?

May want to check your fueses first, then go from there. Could also be the fuel pump resistor.

If that doesn't work make sure you have spark. Unplugging the MAF may get you running too.

so its the resistor. open up the fuse box in the engine bay, pull the fuse pump relay and bend pin 85...reinstall and see if the problem still occurs

The pump should be enough to get the car running but if it's the wrong style you may cause a lean condition when the engine is at higher RPM.

I think this is what 99pgpgt is talking about.

Do you have the ability to check the fuel pressure at the schrader valve?

Great!...I guess the system needed primed?

Like 99pgpgt said, make sure it's the correct pump for the supercharged motor. You don't need any more problems.

Have you replace the fuel filter? Is there air in the system again? Did you remove the relay and disable the fuel pump resistor yet like 99pgpgt said?

Have you tried getting it to start using starting fluid...That would tell you for sure if it is your Fuel that is the issue...

I can't understand why the hell you're getting air in the system. Are you sure the lines going into the pump are secure? If the pump is sucking air it will ruin the pump...fuel acts as a lubricant.
