Thread: Grinding sound after installing HAI?

Recently installed a HAI on my 01 gtp and between idle and 2,000 rpm's the engine is making a light grinding noise. It doesnt sound terrible, but it doesnt sound right. At first I chalked it up to standard engine noise that i couldnt hear with the factory airbox. It seems to fade a little after 5-10 mins of driving. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal, or do I need to start trying to diagnose a possible issue? I can post a video tomorrow if the snow lets up.

I just bought the car from a family member that babied it its whole life. 97k miles. It does have an airflow kind of sound to it but ive never quite heard something like this. maybe a video would help?

Oh yeah all oil changes and such were done on time. She was very good about maintenance.

its the throttle body's fault.

The IAC passage was designed to be cheap, not quiet.
