It probably has problems starting because the motor is trying to lock up.

Flex plate or bad rocker for sure. I would start with the pulling the valve covers first then go from there.

Oh man... the "I did an intake gasket swap and didnt change the oil twice" story.

I fear you probably will end up with a rod bearing failure here... As the flexplate noise should nearly go away while driving, and cause no issues starting.

I am guessing its true... Heard it way too many times.

I need to do a writeup on how to replace your intake without torching your bottom end...

An article stating common sense would probably help a lot of newbs. May not be a bad idea. It still amazes me that people don't change the oil before and after an internal coolant leak. I mean, where do they think the coolant goes?? That's right- straight into the crankcase and last I checked bearings do not run on a light coating of coolant.

Sad thing is if it does turn out to be a spun bearing then the shop that possibly caused it will weasel out of it by saying that the coolant had already damaged it and they are not liable (i.e.- go pound sand).

Every time I have done it I change the oil twice after. No reason for changing it 3 times. But that is semantics.
