cracked head blown head gasket or just done??

Ok so i just went out on a limb and bought an 02 gtp that has a cracked head they say but not sure anyways they wanted $1000 i offered $500 and they took it.. it starts and runs but not well at all they said it just died running down the road they pulled over and the front manifold was glowing which in past experience maybe cat clogged but anyways said it was blowing oil out the dip stick which while i have ran it very little it does have pressure in the crank case... so was wanting some of yalls input maybe heads gaskets just think its more due to pressure in crank case sorry so long thanks..

Remove the cat.

Do a cooling system pressure test.

If thats okay, do a compression test.

If thats okay, nothings wrong but the cat.

Oil out dipstick suggests PCV is clogged.

If the head gasket is bad, you're going to have to take the top end off to fix it anyway, so I would take it down to the heads and see what's going on.

Is the Check engine light on? What codes is it showing?

i forgot it does have a small amount of oil in radiator i think it hard to tell but nothing in oil as far as i can tell

Are you sure that's oil mixed in, not trans fluid? The trans cooler is inside the radiator and over time can crack and leak.

blocked PCV can cause excessive pressure is the motor.

A glowing manifold is likely a block in the exhaust system, so clogged cat is a very good chance.

Id so some well needed maintence to the motor first.

Like a full service:

Plugs
Wires
Lower Intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets
PCV
Coolant flush
Oil change

Blowing a head gasket is very rare for these motors.

yes the check engine light is on but have not had a chance to get the code reader from work and check them. i will try to get the codes off it tomorrow and post them..

ok real quick before i go out does anyone have a procedure on checking compression weather remove all plugs then do a cylinder at a time or what and also what should the compression be on each cylinder thanks alot will check back in am...

one at a time sounds about right. anything over 100 psi is good by the book but. however the numbers must be within ten % of each other.

Ok just got the codes off and here they are
P0300 multiple engine misfire detected
P0201 injector circuit open cylinder 1
P0128 ect sensor below thermostat regulating temp

Let me know if this might help with any thoughts of this causing my problems

injector is a problem. pull the injector connector off and check resistance of the injector. they should all be between 14 and 16 ohms. I believe the spec is 15.6 ohms.

if its open its shorted internally and needs to be replaced. I might have one or injector that should be working that you can have for the cost of shipping if you need them. someone else closer to you might have some you can buy. yards might have them as well. new is overpriced.

Ok that helps on that issue but gonna stop here for now cause I changed the PVC valve and still lots of pressure in crank case any other ideas on that

PCV could be plugged/ welded on the bottom of the supercharger if the car/ supercharger were ever modded.

Ok think I just found the problem cyl 2 and 4 the electrodes on plug are Mia and 1 and 3 have the cracks in the porcelain. So correct me if I am wrong cyl 2 and 4 are toast time to find a motor?

You can get a new engine, or get a new block if your top end is good.

missing electrodes is better than smashed ones...

You can burn the elctrodes off due to limp timing and beating on it. (done it a few times before on the turbo cars, no issues).

You are basically going to either borescope it and see if the pistons still exist, or just put new plugs in and figure out why you burned the old ones out.

Well just by putting one plug in that was damaged no other plugs in it gave it a lot of crank case pressure that's why I think a ring or just holes in the piston so I just kinda left it at that
