Stock Rebuild...advice? tricks?

Hey all,

I'm picking up a junkyard L67 and I'm going to be doing just a stock rebuild. So I'll be using the stock parts, just cleaning them up, maybe honing the cylinder walls (depending on their condition), and replacing the bearings/rings with brand new parts.

I know I should put the rods/pistons back into the cylinders they came from, and the same goes for the mains, just so nothing is off in the balancing and internal alignment. I will also be using ARP hardware for the rods and the mains

Is there any advice you all can give me? I've never done this before, but I'm good at following directions, and this is not the first major car work I've done (swapped heads and cam in my Trans Am and later installed a built motor after I threw a stock rod).

PS: Lots of assembly lube over everything is what I am reading from forums searches.

For use with ARP Main studs...you NEED the block line bored for them.

Not a want.

Also, you are right, assembly lube is your best friend...I'd have your local machine shop press in the new cam bearings and clean everything up (aka, hot tank that sh1t).

Have a shop line bore and assemble the bottom end. Or simply throw money in a fire pit. There's things that aren't going to go well and putting bearings into a 3800 w/o line boring....its one of them.
