Im going to soon replace my upper and lower intake intake manifold gaskets on my 02 GTP, ive done a lot of research and looking things up as far as doing it. I just want to know EXACTLY what i need, EVERY part i need to order. I know i need upper and lower gaskets and new o-rings for the injectors and gasket maker. Could someone point me in the right direction to every part thats good quality that i need with links? Thanks!!

just did them on my 04 gtp, i got lower intake gaskets, supercharger gaskets, valve cover gaskets/grommets, coolant elbows and a throttle body gasket, rtv sealant, coolant, would be a good time to replace filters, plugs, wires and to do an oil change! i ordered injector o rings but they came in late plus cost me $36 with my gm discount so i decided to return them

im newer here so i might have missed something, but someone else will chime in

either get the felpro brand or the alluminum ones.

    Lim gasket
Supercharger gasket (should come with 2 yellow o rings)
    valve cover gaskets and grommets
tb gasket (unless yours is already the rubber re-useable one.
    RTV sealant
    coolant
    brake clean/razor
10 quarts oil (buy cheap stuff,= for 5 of them, then the other 5 for whatever oil you want)
    oil filter

After you have the LIM off and cleaned up, and befor you go to put it back on dump 1-2 quarts of oil down the valley to wash away any coolant/debris. Then drain the oil, and fill with 5 quarts oil and go drive it for 20-40 miles and then change it again. You must do this step to prevent any coolant from being in the oil and doing damage to the motor.

If I missed something, I'm sure somebody will chime in.

Thanks gents! Yeah, I don't get on here too often but having threads like this makes it worthwhile. I have a 2003 GTP and the intake manifold has been leaking for some time. I thought the recall was supposed to fix that!

My son is more of a wrench head than I am, and he was thinking we wouldn't have to disturb the supercharger, but it looks like y'all think it would be prudent even if the gasket is ok? Or can you not get the intake manifold off without removing the supercharger first?

Fivefingerdeathpunch (), thanks for the oil change notice. Makes sense when you think about it.

Now, if anyone is willing to post Step 1 - 2 - 3 pics, I'd be all !!! As well, are there any torque numbers to worry about? My son thinks the intake manifold bolts are torque-to-yield....

Seriously, thanks for this. FWIW, I'm at 112K, and other than front wheel bearings and the recall on the engine top end (maybe it was the head gaskets?), this is the first serious maintenance I've had - well, just did the air conditioner condenser and one of my strut mounts is popping on turns, so I guess I'm due...

    Thanks again,

    Tom

Get the metal gaskets, the plastic ones fail. And the plenum has torque specs and they should come with the plenum if you buy a new one. They tend to crack after the second torque down. Just so you know

you can take the supercharger off with the LIM, but its just alot heavier and a little more a pain to get back on with how bulky it will be.

ALL the supercharger and LIM bolts are re-useable, they are not TTY.

I cant remember the torque specs, but just get them pretty snug all the way around and you wont have problems. I've seen LIM bolts snap at the proper torque specs for no reason, so that why snug is good enough.

    Watch this.

From the many LIM gaskets I've done in the past this might help a little.

Take off the bolts for the t-stat, remove it, and stick the hose from a wet-dry vac on there and suck all the coolant out of the LIM. This will make removing the LIM easier and not drip a half a gallon of coolant into the motor (or anywhere else).

    alpine2g,

Sorry, I don't know - I'm one of those looking for help... and HOLY KAZOY! So I pull the plastic cover off and it's a warren of wires and tubes criss-crossing the supercharger. Okay, so you unplug the wires and I think the tubes are all for the fuel injectors, but I didn't see anything about them above, and yeah, it's bad enough that this is "what I did on my Christmas vacation" but then to ask y'all to help out, well, I feel sheepish, but if anybody's free to type a little... That video is taking forever and two days to download.

It looks like to get the front valve cover off, the top engine mounts have to be undone (this is a 2003 GTP), and the back cover is nearly invisible. Maybe I can skip those? Just do the LIM gasket? I hope my son has seen stuff like this before!

Big thing for me so far is the injector rails, I didn't realize I'd have to remove them, so I'll be looking about, but if anyone has anything... I numbered the wires coming off the ignition moduls, & thank heaven for digital cameras!

Ok, with access to the manuals over at GPONA, and my son's expertise, we have the manifold out. Our only side trip so far was the valve covers, I'm going to look but it seems like you have to take the whole front of the motor off to do them, 'cause we sure can't get them out.

Yup, there's a lot to do just to change the valve cover gaskets. Unreal...

Well, we're all back together aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnd - the plastic elbow at the front of the manifold is leaking. Yep. So is there anything better for this, or do I have to visit the dealership. I notice there are two of these beauties, so get them both, pull the alternator and tensioner and pop them in, or is there something easier?

    Thanks all.

I'm disappointed no one mentioned you should replace these when doing this job.

    dorman part number 47065.

under $5 and should be available at most part stores.

Dealer elbows are $20 a piece around here.

And yes, pull alt, then tensioner bracket.
