Help! Stripped supercharger plug

I have a 2000 Grand Prix GTP, and due to rust and old age, the drain plug on the supercharger snout has been stripped while trying to change out the supercharger oil.

Anyone have personal experience on how to remove a stripped plug successfully without damaging the thread of the S/C? I know that there are stuff out there to remove stripped screws/bolts, but I have no personal experience.

Any thoughts will be helpful! Thanks in advance!

you can try and take the next size bigger hex and pound it in there with a hammer and then turn it. or find one of those tools they make to take out stripped nuts and bolts like you said.

If you take the bolts off the snout you can take the whole snout off to change the oil. If you do this on the car it'll make a stinky mess. I'd recommend removing the blower for this method

You can drill a hole through the middle of the plug and use an easy out to take it out. You will want to remove the snout to make sure you don't get any metal shavings in the supercharger oil.

When we removed the manifolds on my Camaro we broke over half of them. We drilled a hole in the stud and then we had this kit that came with square bits that you have to pound in. Then take a cresent wrench or something similar to remove the stud. Should work just fine on your supercharger plug. Just don't drill too deep.

And afterward ZZP sells the plug i think. (even if its overpriced)

Thanks for all the replies. I'm gonna try using a dremel to make slots to fit a flat screwdriver. If that doesn't work, I'll buy one of those screw extractors from sears/home depot.

literally did this sunday and it worked like a charm... highly recommend it...

Also happened to me on saturday. I hammered in a flat screwdriver bit into it and yes you can buy a new one at zzp.

Any large hardware store might sell it. For 35 cents.

This is the correct solution to this common problem. Many times people use the wrong size wrench to begin with and it rounds out the hex bolt.

Its soft metal, so you don't have to pound the larger size wrench in, a gentle tapping will do just fine.

You can either keep the same, plug, and use the same wrench on it because its now resized, or replace it if you wish to do so.
