I was wondering will my supercharger make my engine burn oil? I have had my engine rebuilt from bottom up. I am now starting to burn oil so I think because I am losing oil and this not on the ground, not in my coolant. I talked to a few people and they said there is an o-ring in the supercharger that is bad and it is sucking my oil though and burning it. I am trying to get feed back on this. If anyone knows how these superchargers work on a 2001 GTP let me know.. Is this possible? Can this be fixed without having to buy a new supercharger?

thanks much for your time and hope to hear back from someone

Are you losing supercharger fluid or engine oil?

    The oiling systems are separate.

PCV valve is getting changed tomorrow with my O2 sensor. As far as the blue smoke it blows out some smoke from time to time. This does not happen often. If I set at a red light for a bit when I take off it might puff some smoke... other than that it dont smoke.

Tell us about this motor. Any cams, head work etc? The most common leak I would say that burns engine oil is the valve seals. If you had work done and maybe the heads weren't milled or the other proper parts weren't used to ensure you had clearnance, that'll beat down the oil seals in short time and cause this issue.

I spun a rod on my old engine. So I went to Wausau Engines to have a new motor built. As far as I know My block was reused. I know that the head was replaced with a new one due to it was warped. As far as I know everything inside the motor is new. Anything bolt on was reused from my old motor. I have taken back there and he said he did a pressure check and check all seals and said everything was fine. Now they are telling me it has something to do with my supercharger. They say there is a o-ring that is bad and is a common thing and it is suckign my oil though this o-ring and is burning it. They said I should just replace the supercharger. Today there is a new PCV value and o2 sensor going in. Check engine light came on yesterday for o2 and I am just replacing the PCV value due to I dont think it has ever been changed.

Ok, so that you know .. there is no common o-ring that leaks oil on the supercharger internally. At the pulley end, there is a seal, that seal can sometimes leak, it's externally though and that is easily seen on the belt and snout. No engine oil enters the supercharger. Turbos do have oil seals and are prone to leaking and burning oil.

I'll repeat that, no engine oil ever enters the supercharger for lubrication of it's parts. The only thing that enters the supercharger is oil vapor through the pcv. The pcv should have an o-ring on the bottom of it, then it goes in, then a spring and the top cover. If that o-ring wasn't in place you should have a vacuum leak and possibly a whistling noise.

Posting this in three places isn't a good idea.

    One thread per topic please.

Rut Ro.. The Canadian cop stopped in.

I've got a couple SC's at my place and have tons of pictures. If you need any further info or help convincing someone that a these superchargers don't leak oil like turbos, just holler. I've pulled them apart in my sleep.
