ok i wanna see what everyone thinks about my problem at the moment with my stupid engien lol

mods : xp cam, new OEM timing chain and dampner, 105# springs, 3.4 pulley for now, and ported s/c

Ok so i just got it all done yesterday and now there is a grinding noise apperaring.
The noise happens the loudest after i left off the gas from revving it up. So lets say i rev it to 3000rpms, when i take my foot off the gas is when it will grind the loudest. Or when im taking off from a dead stop it grinds when im driving. And also it seems to be getting louder over time and i want to figure out exactly what it is asap. Im just putting htis up to maybe get some help or some opinions on what everyone thinks what it is.

    Thank you
    Bryant

yes theothernick helped me. But i did the screwdriver trick to find out where its coming from and to me it soudns like either the rear valve cover or the timing cover.
I have been thinking maybe the chain tensioner went bad or was bad....?

Check the TC to flex bolts and look for anything out of place down there.

Was the tensioner inspected or replaced?

Not my first time Bryant .. please go check them.

The only time flex to TC bolts make noise is when they can allow the TC to get a little faster/slower than the engine. aka revs and off throttle.

Want me to show you a vid of what happens when you put on a flex 180 degrees from where it should be? Been there, broke that...trying to help ya out.

Your sure the grinding is up by the other end of the motor? Maybe a pulley didn't like something or got a little mushed going in/out?

    Stethescope can be key.

It's tough to see grinding from a VC, the only thing up there is the rockers. Did you change them?

i left the rockers alone just put new valve locks and 105 springs. I was thinkin if its coming from teh v/c maybe a rocker didnt get torqued down correctly or maybe one is not in the right position on when i left off the gas it stumbles possibly

You changed retainers too right? You'd kinda have to. Typically you change springs and retainers, leaving the locks.

Ok so stock rockers.. It's tough not to have them go into place correctly. Possible..but tough.

Sticky valve possibly...but that would cause a misfire...also...like you said...it would stumble...and it would stumble all the time, since a rocker just doesn't FALL back into place. I hope you also matched the springs and retainers together as I didn't see that listed too.
