On a serious note, I've heard something like that before, on a car with a chipped piston and it never made it out of the cylinder. Got smashed into the piston, and was actually smacking the head.
I guess it's a good thing you're pulling the heads off.
Yeah....sitting there, pondering the wonders of the universe, i thought about that too.
And I see how it all fits now, the lifters just slide in/out, and the Lifter guides hold them.
Drained the oil, there's definitely coolant in it. Dont have a good magnet to check the oil that's drained for metal shavings/dust, but theres none in the heads.
Heads will come off tomorrow since it's dark out now. Dont want to be under the car at night taking the headers off.
The lifters on #3 cylinder have damage, ones actually cracked, the other has a small chunk missing, so I'd imagine that theres some Cam damage to go along with it.
Haha, I think it was a severely poor timing deal..as in, even had I not done any wire moving, when I cranked the car it would have done this, regardless.
And Reptile, I've already checked the Push rods, and they roll straight, and the ends are both in fine shape
Most of the time, something like this has happend earlier. Could have been the day before, could have been a month before. All it takes is a crack in something, then wear and tear will eventually make the fatigued part fail wile even just idling.
Yep, that's what I've pretty well guessed. Hoping the cam is okay, cause thats another chunk of money, so would another motor though.
The good news is, my girlfriend is helping, and is doing pretty damn good on learning where **** goes/how it works, and so forth..Plus she said she'd help pay for ****, since shes put on the last 10k miles on the car....
No, not taking the blame...lol
Specifically "I know it's not something I did, but Im willing to help, since I've driven it too"
So instead of saying anything, I'll take it for what it is...a helping hand.
Plus tits always help ease the pain of finding broken parts.....XD
Yeah, gotta admit, I didnt think she'd help any, so I guess it's her way of saying "sorry I killed your car"
I'll post results of pulling the heads tomorrow...Praying to the car gods that the pistons are fine...
Chipped piston...sent chunks into the head....#2piston, havent check the rear bank yet
motor is toast....
That is all....
Yeah...no bueno, lol
Least 1/2 the weight of the motor is off of it, so yanking it out wont be such a *****, XD
Look on the bright side...
I have a project car now...
just no daily driver...
#2...that's odd.
Lemme know if you need any help brah
Haha, will do blue, thanks again man.
Probably gonna drop it off its jack stands, and put a cover over it, until I have the money to grab another motor.
#1 and #3 piston bores have nasty scrape marks in them, along with so chips in it...
Cam also has some wear on the lobes on the intake and exhaust lifters for #3 cylinder...
Huh...I wonder what caused it to let go...ya never know sometimes man...oh well...it'll be a TAD bit meaner when it is done tho...if you need some head work, let me know as well.
Rofl...yah...The rear head is fine, but the front is no good, the piece of piston was large enough to cause a crack near the valve seat.
I'll probably pick up a set of heads, and take em to a shop in St. Augustine that only does head/intake work, and have them port them, and just build a mean M90 car.
