I was working under the engine this evening when i seen coolant leaking from a coolant elbow under my supercharger snout. It was replaced right after my engine swap back in September. Its now leaking heavily but only when the car is running and doesn't leak when the car is off. Is this fixable or should a shop do it?

No you don't need to take the snout off..depending on what year youll have 1 or 2 of them...i think 97 is 1 and 98 up is 2 but im not 100% sure..do a search...im sure theyres a write up around her somewhere.

Hmmm okay cool. I only see 1 coolant elbow unless theres another one hidden somewhere so im guessing its just that one. And my engine came from a 97 buick what what i was told. I will look for the write up. Thanks 4THGENCAMAROFAN.

    You need:
5/16" wrench/socket to disconnect the battery
    deep and shallow 13,15mm sockets.
Remove the belts 15mm socket used for tensioner
Remove alternator 15mm socket for the mounting bolts and 13mm for the cable
Remove heater hoses and remember how they go on.
Remove the 3 bolts on the alternator bracket (yes there are 3 look and you will find them)
Use a pry bar to work the bracket off the engine.
Since your engine is a 97 you will break off the aluminum elbow more than likely. So you will need to order a new alternator bracket and the one plastic one you see leaking.
    Install in reverse order.

One thing to clarify, did they just use the 97 block or all the accessories? All year Impala's came with the newer 2 plastic elbow design tensioner bracket. Can you take a picture of it? We can advise you on what you'll need.

Well after looking at your cardomain I can tell you have the newer bracket. There's 2 coolant elbows. One is underneath going into the timing case cover close to the rear of the water pump

Being a 97 BE VERY CAREFUL prying on the bracket. The lower elbow is part of the bracket and if you pry wrong...you break the timing cover. I suggest rocking the bracket front and back of the engine bay.. while giving it a little pull. Gentle and time consuming..but it never breaks the timing cover.

    No..this is one I didn't do..a friend did.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
