Is there a way to disconnect the Supercharger to save gas maybe by taking a belt off?

    Thanks

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but yes you should be able to do that w/o any problems. I thought I have read somewhere before about people doing that, besides the belt for the S/C only runs the S/C right? The rest of the accessories should run off the other belt.

Taking the belt off will "disable" the supercharger...but you will get better gas mileage by just staying out of the throttle with the supercharger connected.

    X2 with above.

If you have a MPS, run a larger pulley, and keep put of the throttle.

Taking the belt off will make the car so sloooooooooooow you will be giving it more throttle to get it up and going, and for sure the MPG could drop for sure keeping that up. And regardless, when you don't have your supercharger, you will need it or want it sometimes. I feel like that every day driving the work truck around. Big bummer not having boost behind my foot.

Just by taking off the belt for the SC my DIC was giving me 2-3 mpg more. I haven't tested this by hand and paper but there was a few times that I almost got hit pulling out and being able to hammer it to make tight gaps in traffic. I'm averaging about 21-23 mpg in town with 107,500 miles on th engine. Only things I've done to it is replaced a few idler pulleys and new autolite plugs.

LOL the D.I.C. is the most worthless gimmick on our cars. Its a reference or a guideline as to what is really going on. Do the math, the numbers never lie on MPG.

It does make a difference, but only in the city not on the highway, I just had to put a coupler in my supercharger. I didn't find it that much slower than when I had my 97 SE with the 3.8L . Besides the GTP's are better on fuel than the SE's or the GT's on the hwy.

Maybe in your case you get bad mileage, I was refering to my stock GTP gets better mileage in the city without the supercharger belt but only 1-2 mpg's.

your getting the same as I am and mines not stock is my point. Disabling the sc will cause an air restriction so it shouldn't help (you have to get air past the rotors that are no longer spinning)

more power equals less throttle..and your extra power is coming from air which is free...yes it takes engine power to move the supercharger, but you get more power out of it which in turn means less gas needed for everyday driving. Also, the supercharger doesn't inject the boost unless your at a certain throttle point, or under load.(someone can explain it better) Which means sometimes your not using it anyways. I would just leave it on, and research other options, like fuel filter change, light throttle, open exhaust a bit, stuff like that will help. I'm sure others can pitch in ideas that have worked for them... BTW I get 21mpg when I'm heavy on the throttle around town, and over 25 if I drive like my mom. (almost 40 on the highway) So I'd check your throttle, or look over regular maintainance.

I love them...i didnt mean to come across like that...but as far as the mpg estimated by the dic that can sometimes be wrong because the dic assumes that the LTFT+STFT are at zero...wich is not always the case.

I am getting 31 mpg's on the highway and with the belt on in the city it was 27.2 mpg's and without the belt on it went to 29.4 mpg's, you stated you were getting 23 mpg's. I don't know how that's the same. I was only stating my experience.

Hey I look at it like this everyone. I bought my damn car because it was fast as it was stock. I had no intention of getting Awesome gas miliage and if i did i would not have bought a sepercharged car. or any v6 for that matter. Sure prices of gas has gone up. But it's nothing i didnt expect. and i really dont think it should have been a suprise to anyone.I didnt buy a supercharged car and spend over 7000 on mods to disable the freakin supercharger. If i can improve on gas milage by using what i have without sacraficing power then sure i will, thats why i have a tuner. With my mods in my sig i am getting the same mpg if not better than a totally stock gtp that has done every maintence procedure available to try to improve the mpg. Gas- your going to need it regardless.Your going to buy it regardless. Your going to use it regardless. No matter the price. Thats why i dont even bother complaining. just my 2 cents.
