2000 Grand Prix GTP
After MANY Issues, and Two motor builds..... Ive finally got something that seems to be running right *fingers crossed*.
After some bad machine work I had the small end of a rod let go... thats right, the small end. Machine shop shaved down the top to balance everything... i didnt catch it until my motor had a Grapefruit size hole behind the starter, and was spewing out chunks of JE piston....
SO i bought a junk yard motor with 40k, pulled the heads off checked EVERTHING, and put it back together leaving the bottom end stock.
Using my,
Vs Cam
ZZP stage two cylinder heads
SFI balancer
Pcm
pulley
ZZP converter
various other supporting modifications
Other than some minor problems, and possibly some Knock... (planing on taking it to a shop to make sure its dialed in with all this crap)
The only real problem i have so far... is an oil leak.
oddly enough the last build had the same leak coming from the Front crank seal. I replaced the already new seal with another. Then after the motor blew up i reused my timing cover and replaced the seal again, and used BCA's sleeve and seal to sleeve the SFI balancer. It still leaks a constant drip.
Needless to say I'm at a loss. All I can think to do is pull the balancer and seal again, and make sure the seal bore in the Timing cover isnt damaged. I really hope my $400 SFI balancer purchased from ZZP isnt the cause.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues, or anyone have any other ideas as to the cause?
Could I be doing something wrong?
Id appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
Adam
