Thread: Rockers and springs

I think my next mod will be rockers. I've tried to read up on springs but I'm confused. ZZP has a warning about their 90# springs are GM LS6 yellow springs. "Because of the higher spring rate, timing chain dampener life is lower than with the 105's." My past experience is with V8s and i'm concerned with reliability on my GP. Does anyone who replaced springs have some good advice for me? TAI

if youre replacing the springs and are debating between 105# and 90# for sure get the 105# springs.

LS6 springs are the 90#. The spring rate and pressures etc are higher than 105#. The 90 and 105 are installed spring pressure. Yet when you compress the springs their rates and pressures change. That's where the dampener info comes into play.

If you are going for a mild build, do your research on the L76/LS9 springs. They appear to be about the best choice in some applications and don't wear the dampner much due to their rate.

Found them(LS9).

dont worry about upgrading the chain. if youre worried about it replace the stock chain and tensioner with new ones.
