First I know everyone recomends Overkill and Intense for shelf PCM's. I was curious if anyone had details about the W Body Store PCM's. I really want overkill but I have emissions soon and cant risk the delay I have a CEL showing from my hi-flow cat. I have an 04 CompG. I am hoping W Body store uses DHP pcm's like 3800 performace. I am choosing not to go with 3800 perf because of the hassle i read about in getting the core charge back. Intense seems to charge more for options that overkill gives free and and WBS only charges 10 bucks per for.

Another questions I have is the 3 degree timing increase. I believe I read that GM advanced the timing on the series III GP's would it be smart to get the added advance in a self pcm. I know i might get flamed f here but all legit suggestions are appreciated. Price wise WBS is offering the best with exception to overkill but the possible delay I cant risk. WBS only has $75 core and cheaper on add on. Please help guys thank you

all the vendor PCMs will be similar to one another. on a stock setup, adding 3* of timing will make for knock city. unless you have a good amount of exhaust work (read: headers) then i would leave the timing at stock levels.

also as for mods i have a Intake, and and headers and 1 range colder plugs. I plan on going to a 3.6 pulley and rockers after my PCM that ill be the extent I want to mod my car performance wise. If that helps with suggestions possibly a 3.5 pulley if KR allows.

Then get a DHP...3800 Performance.com...its your car man...up to you. DHP has been around the longest and no one has ever had any issues with a DHP Mail Order PCM

Listen to Blue you can't really lose with the DHP it's been proven.
There is no replacement for displacement........unless you have a supercharger or turbo

2000 Bright Red GTP Coupe GXP axle back, GMPP sway bar, NGK TR6, 180 stat. (Uninstalled Aeroforce Interceptor, DHP PCM, FWI, Gen V on the way) and still no pulley in sight.

BIO, when you say 3* what is that. lol! To display 3 degrees Fahrenheit simply put the number you want then hold the alt button down a type in the numbers 248 (alt+248).
    3°F. Try it!

Oh yeah, not to be off subject. I want a pcm too. I heard or read that Intense is the ***t. But if I get one now and then do my top swap, do I need another pcm?

    I asked W Body Store

Inquiry Details : I was curious about your PCM. I am am member of the Grand Prix forums and your company doesnt have much of a following when it comes to your PCM. I have ordered a couples times from you I am so pleased I wanna continue my purchases with you. Of course for shelf order pcm's most people refer another vendor because they use a DHP tune. A few people seem to think that your company uses the same tune. I was wondering if you could confirm that. Also I have an 04 comp G would you recommend the 3 degree timing advance I have colder plugs headers and CAI. I was informed the series III come advanced from production. As much info as you can give me I would really appreciate. I would like to be someone in the forum who can confirm tune on you PCM since no one seems to be able to confirm if its a good or bad tune. Please respond to me

    The Response

Hi Chris. We use a company with a lot of tuning experience on the 3800s. I'm good at plenty of things but tuning isn't one of them which is why we contract that out. DHP went out of business a couple years ago and hasn't offered a tune since. I don't believe the Series III cars come with any more advance than the older cars but total advance on that PCM wouldn't be more than total advance on a 97' - 03' PCM. Because the physical engine is the same, the threshold at which it will experience knock is the same, thus the cap on safe timing.

For the sake of giving them a shot im gonna purchase next week and just see , I'll purchase a scan tool and see the result worst case I send it back and fight for my money with only a $75 core I don't mind the lost in keeping my stock one 3800 perf. charges 150 core i think that's excessive especially with the stories I read about getting it back. Not sure if anyone really cares but ill post once I have it in
