Can some tell me what exactly what this does
They will tell you that its supposed to help lower your intake temps. And while I dont personally feel it does, it does lower the temperature of the Throttle Body since it is isolated from the blower. The argument could be made that that helps the sensors mounted on the TB, but I think they are durable enough to deal with it.
The other purpose for it is that it gives you a good place to install nozzles for water or nitrous injection. Other than those it doesnt seem like it has much else in the way of purpose.
Furthermore, it adds another gasket to the set up and another place for potential leaks. I will also add that the studs in the supercharger are M6 x 1.0mm studs that are mounted into an aluminum case. That spacer seems to take a bit more pressure/torque down to seal properly and that runs the risk of stripping those things out.
O sounds good. I figured it really didn't do much.
I ran one for a long time. It only made a huge difference in the TB temp as Scotty said. I'm going to get another, because my TOG crossover is too close to the TB and even with the add-on heatshield it gets hot pretty quick.
thanks for all the help
it is I think more of a "hey it works on a carb" type thing myself. On a carbed engine it changes the way the air and fuel mix, and then you get someone who doesn't think that there is no fuel from our tb's and makes claims it does stuff
^^
ding ding. Spacers work well on carbs and are probably a good investment. Ive even seen little screens put in with them to help atomize the fuel better for a little better fuel mileage.
But on Fuel Injected vehicles, unless you are spraying something, they dont do much other than thermally isolate the throttle body from the blower.
