as im typing all this im in the garage so when i figure something out i walk right over to the computer. the rear head, i can push the pushrods down and there are still spongy like they havent even seen oil yet. maybe that explains why i had 25 psi of oil pressure when i heard the noise in town. But the weird thing is i had full oil in there. When i left the house i was reading 50 psi. Gonna check the oil pump right now and will fill u all back in.
Man, that does not sound good at all. So basically it was fine at first start up and after driving it you lost oil pressure causing the lifters to collaspe and this was the noise you heard? I hope that new motor isn't toast
the motor is fine. i caught it pretty early. gonna prime the system then take the vc's off to see if they pumped up this time.
new as well. we checked that last night to make sure.
nope. didnt even know what that was until after i had the block together.
think the problem might be figured out. took the front cover off again, and the bolts to my machined pump cover show wear marks on them from the chain. obviously because i put 1 metal timing cover gasket on it. picked up 2 paper gaskets today to space it out somemore. We will see what happens tomorrow when the motor goes back in and gets started. on the rear header, cylinder 6 showed a slight exhaust leak.
