There is a hex plug in the snout. You have to take it out and suck the old fluid out and then replace it with new fluid. Buy the gm supercharger oil from a dealership.
ok, thank you!
dont be surprised if it smells like straight up @$$.
make sure you buy 2 bottles if your getting it from the dealer. cuz they jew you and only sell like 7.5 ounces in a bottle and if i remember right you need more then that.
use a spray bottle sprayer to suck it out the stuff will smell like a$$ and dead hookers on a hot day its funky stuff
When warm (after you drive it for a while) let it cool down some, and remove the allen head/hex head plug from the snout. Make sure you use the correct size allen wrench so you don't strip out the head of the plug.
I am the creator of the syringe sucker, and have used this method for many years, even before I owned my GTP. Works awesome.
Insert hose into snout, pull back sucking all the old oil out. You have to do this about 3 or 4 times to get it all. I will put the used oil in a old bottle with a screw lit that seals it inside. I will dispose of this oil, with my regular engine oil.
Using 2 bottles of GM oil, refill. The fluid level should come to the bottom of the threads of the plug. (flash light helps to see this sometimes)
2 bottles is all you need, nothing more or less. GM some times will under fill, as well as over fill many of these bottles, as long as its to the bottom of the threads, you will be alright. I have NEVER needed more than 2 bottles of the GM oil per supercharger.
Reinstall plug, CAREFUL not to cross thread it into the soft aluminum. Also, now is a good time to check the condition of the o-ring on the plug, making sure its still round, and pliable. If its flat, dry, and cracked, might look into a new replacement. I replace these with a Viton replacement. Part number for that is 012-75 for future reference.

I just changed mine.It is simple but I called 3 dealerships in my area and none had the oil.Balwin buick in Laurens SC did tell me to use a 5w30 synthetic.I went with royal purple. They could order the oil for me but I had to order a case and he said I didn't want to know how much.My supercharger is much quieter now.
FWIW, this has been widely debated in other forums. A couple have used synthetic fluid, but it is really not recommended, and has never been extensively tested. The GM supercharger fluid is apparently used because of it's ability to not foam and cavitate when running at 15k+ RPMS. Synthetic engine oil does not have these same properties and the cavitation can cause excessive wear problems on your gears. I understand you wanted to change the fluid, but I would try to get the correct fluid in there ASAP before too much damage is done.
Thanks I am planning on changing it again soon to clean it out.I will try to get the recommended oil but I went to 3 dealerships and the last one recommended any 5w30 synthetic.Thats why I used it.IDK but none had it in stock and the Chevy dealer in laurens didn't even seem to know what I wanted.(They said they didn't deal with pontiac anymore try someone else!?!) Sometimes I think they are jerks because I am a female and guys in my area think we shouldn't play with boy toys.LOL.As far as where I am located,I am in the Lake Greenwood area!
12345982 is the GM supercharger oil part number.
If the dealer does not stock it, they CAN order it no problem. It comes to them in a box of 12, but they CAN open the box and sell you it by the bottle.
GM List is around $10.17 a bottle. Usually costs you about $7.50 a bottle. I get mine for about $5.50 a bottle, but I buy it by the case, and multiple cases at a time, = discount.Prices change on the stuff, up or down all the time.
Once year I will order my SC oil, and drop a couple hundred bucks on just that. My GM parts guy always says, I bet GM is scratching their heads and wondering what this Kansas dealership is doing with all this oil. LOL
