Thread: PRJ Gen 3 fuel rails?

Does anyone know about the newest PRJ Gen 3 fuel rails? I am having a set shipped to me. I ordered the gen 2 but there was an issue with the shop making the set so the supplier upgraded me to the gen 3 for my trouble. Has anyone read up on the difference or improvements? Just curious.

Well, they must be new. 15 hits on this thread and no comments? I checked PRJ's website and they advertise the gen 3 available feb 08. I'll post up pics and reviews on install when I get them. 3800performance told me they go to the anodizer monday and I should have them by Friday.

If you read the description on PRJ's website it tells you what the updates are...at least it did. Although his Gen 2 to were awesome the Gen 3's look to be even better.

I would definitely appreciate some pictures as well of the install. The only thing I dislike about the PRJ rails, and its a minor thing, is that I can only get them in red. I would have thought that an aftermarket company would realize that people customize their engine bays and that color would be a factor.

I guess I could always paint them but I would rather have them anodized silver or black or something like that.

The set I had was red with a blue FPR housing. It was an emergency thing we had to do while Paul was doing some install work. I wasn't thrilled but that's all he had at the time. Interestingly enough they just sort of disappeared into the rest of the engine bay. I bet once the new rails are available they (Paul and 3800) will have color options just like the last ones.

I agree, I bet Paul will offer more color options once they get it rolling. Correct me if I am wrong but when they are anodized they can be just about any color right? Red isnt specific due to the process right? I think Pep Boys has anodized dress up accessory parts in blue, black and red. So the rails could eventually be anodized in different colors easily?

You are correct, they can be anodized any color. It is interesting that he is only selling them through 3800performance this time and not offering them himself. The set I got from him actually belonged to 3800performance, but had not shipped yet. I had to call 3800performance, pay for them and then Paul did the installation.

I cant wait to get them. I am kinda at a stand still now. I was going to put my valve covers on today but I thought it was a good idea to wait since they are painted. I dont need fuel on my covers, so The front cover is loose and bolts out. The rear is ready to go. I think I'll do my O2 sensor while I can easily get at it.

We used to use Easy-Off Oven Cleaner to strip the color off anodized parts when I was building mountain bikes. In fact, you can mask off a design, strip the part, and the color will remain under the mask.

Now THAT I would like to see a well documented How To on. I would have never thought of that.

we used to use oven clean to strip the anodized finish off of rc car parts.

If I have any parts left laying around, I'll do something. Doesnt really require a how to though. Just spray it on and wipe it off. Maybe a little washing if its got alot of nooks and crannies (sorry, just had an english muffin )

Good question, Aluminum can react to chemicals in a bad way. castrol Purple degreaser is bad for Aluminum, that I know. So I wonder what long term effects oven cleaner would do?

How is the purple degreaser bad for aluminum? I tried some on my blower case and it didnt seem to do squat, including clean it any.

I use to powerwash Tractor trailer Boxes and they were aluminum. I used the purple stuff to clean about everything but couldnt on them. It says in small print on the label do not use on aluminum. It can weaken welds on Aluminum too. That was a few years ago. maybe they changed the formula, I havent looked at a label in a lng time. I use simple green now for everything. The simple green purple stuff is good too.

I wish I could find some type of weak acidic solution to dip my case in. Id love to get it all sparkly and stuff. Im probably going to paint it, but Id like to see it all cleaned up first just in case I decide not to.

Ive used it on structural parts when building bikes, never had a problem. Not that I ever looked at the stuff under a scope or anything, but my brother still has his bike after 12 years and the parts still look and perform like they did when I installed them
