I picked up some used 42# injectors that have been run for about 20K miles. They all look fine, but should I just replace them for my own sanity? Or would they be OK to just pop on?

You'll need tuning for the bigger injectors. Not really just pop on and go...but yes. Always replace BOTH O-Rings on EACH injector

They're not expensive. If it will give you peace of mind, go for it.

I know I'll have to retune, it was more of a mechanical question. I'll pick up a dozen and have them on hand. I've read to cut off the old ones, then lube up the new ones with anything from vaseline to oil to dielectric grease and roll them on. That sound right or is there a trick to doing it?

That's it. I never used anything to roll them on but I do use stuff when installing them into the head. Or lower intake manifold.

i'd replace the o rings, there cheap enough and theres really no reason not to IMO. Use a little grease/motor oil on the rings to install them in there orfaces...
