Thread: Factory Boost Gauge reading

So how high should I see the boost gauge go...? I've never driven another GTP before to compare, I have a 97 bone stock... the highest it has ever gone is the notch just below the half way mark. No matter how much gas I give, thats the highest I've ever seen it go... should it go higher or is that about right?

I was able to peg mine out since day one

hmmm... so any ideas on why it doesn't??? car seems to be running fine, gets great gas mileage 29-31 on the highway, no engine codes, idle is perfect...

Any ideas???

There's a boost bypass valve on the front driver's side of the blower. Check the vac lines going to it. If the vac lines are good, you may have a bad BBV.

disconnect the line from the solenoid to the lower port on the diaphragm. Leave the solenoid still connected though to the wires or it will pop a code. That will fix your problem.

Are you referring to the last post...? Could you explain with a bit more detail... i'm only about 2 weeks into this car and its my first GM vehicle.

On the front of the supercharger, there's a black canister with a solenoid bolted to the same bracket. There's a vac line that goes from the solenoid to the canister. Disconnect it and just leave it hanging open, and see if the problem goes away. If so, it's a bad solenoid.

^yes they do, mine went bad causing the same problem, you dont need it, leave it disconnected. The only thing its used for is torque management. Screw the computer.

I don't even have the solenoid.

But I do have torque management for shifts since I happen to like my transmission. With the shift kit it shifts so fast the PCM doesn't have time to really affect engine power anyway.
