Question, I noticed a bit of price difference and design of these 2 headers. Is SLP that much better to be so much more $$.

I think the ss autochrome ones are direct copies of the alps.they r about 300 dollars.
You get what you pay for.
Pacesetter's are hard to seal...that is the ONLY problem I have had with mine...
I hate to beat a dead horse but we have installed almost every set of headers. Quite a few of those sets were pacesetters. PS's are a great header but they come with useless hardeware and gaskets. Everyone knows this. It should not be a reason to think about spending an extra $300+ on SLPs or togs. Once you spend the $80 or so on better gaskets and better clamps and o2 extension they work fine. Our install kit is still working perfect on quite a few cars.
You will hear people say just get used togs,SLPs,ZZP,S&S and so on.
Why not get used pacesetters.
FYI PS are one of the only headers on the market that read from both banks. SLPs and TOGs end up reading from one bank more then the other because of the bung location.S&S and ZZP headers read only one.
We run SLPs on some of our own cars and still favor PS's, even for installs
People will argue the primary size is to big, but they fixed that and now offer 1 5/8s as well.
I have a feeling the highest HP SC 3800 will be running pacesetters.
^^^ is it possible to list all the gaskets and clamps needed to succesfully install pacesetters. i know i need some v clamps but i've seen people run 2 different kinds, and i'm not sure how many i need. they also say just to weld them. that made me feel a little better about my purchase of these headers. thanks
i have to agree. if you take your time with pacesetters and seal them up right, there great headers.
reptiles has the band clamps that you will need for the y pipes. then i would just get gm gaskets for the manifold gaskets. i just used my orginal gm gaskets and it worked fine.
needed supplies are listed on the site
Sinister Drag Designs - Pacesetter Header Install Kit $60.00
perfect! thanks!
Yeah Thanks Sinister. I just added that to my favorites so when I get around to ordering my pacesetters, I'll be able to find you quick. The one question I have, is the kit say's it comes with a o2 bung plug. What's with that? Still trying to learn some on doing things to these cars.
You could be right though. I haven't got to the headers yet, so haven't done any research on them. I know I'll probably go with the pacesetters, but that;s about it at this point.
I think the Pacesetters have two O2 bungs on them. One is for the narrowband and one for the wideband. Unless you have a wideband, that one should be plugged.
