You seem like a nice guy. Hardly any reason you haven't got anywhere with diagnosing your problem.
Just an FYI, insulting one of the most respected members of a community isn't a way to get any kind of help.

Misfire under load on 1 cylinder would be a bad coil, plug wire or spark plug.. give the car a tune up and use acdelco plugs and wires and your problem will go away.. if not then the high resistance of the bad plug or wire took the coil out.. these 3800s are known for needing coils around 140k so if it were my car I would replace all 3 coils, plugs and wires using all acdelco parts.. now if the misfire is random then the ignition control module would be a good place to start. Again only use acdelco.. also make sure the grounds are clean and secure. They are located on the ignition control module bracket bolt...
Most likely you just need a tune up with quality parts. And I say use only acdelco because I've never had good luck with after market parts. They fail real soon if not right out the box. I've worked on 100s of the 3800 motors and oem is the only way to go. The series 1 and 2 3800s were known for maf! And many after market maf sensors have been bad right out of the box...
So give the car a tune up with acdelco plugs and wires and at least replace the coil that runs the cylinder that is misfiring if it's not bad now it definitely took a hit pushing spark thru high resistance wires..
Do what I said and your car will run properly
