    Hey guys,

It's time to get rid if the stock exhaust on my car. I have read that the stock system is good to 400hp and I'm currently sitting at 300hp at the crank.

The dyno tuner I bring the car to recommends going to 3" exhaust and I've read forums where Overkill Performance highly suggests it as well...but if course the elephant in the room is finances.

I have access to 2 old Duramax (3.5"?) systems that will give me basically all the piping to redo the GP exhaust. The ID on the pipe is 3" - 3 1/4" (not a mandrel bent kit).

Anyone have any input on the downsides of repurposing the old duramax system to save a few bucks?

Go for it. The pipe size after the downpipe doesn't matter so long as it's not way smaller than stock.

3" should be more than plenty for 400hp.

Also for what it's worth, Dynomax Super Turbo's are (imo) the best sounding exhausts for the 3800.
