    Hi all,

I am working on planning my next stage in mods. For the moment I have a DP, 180* tstat, Hp tuners a K&N drop in, and soon e85. (on the engine anyway)

I want to go big with my next set of mods and the direction I take will determine my modding path forward.

Option 1, is an intercooler, injectors, and headers.

Future: porting a N* TB, and Rockers. maybe Methanol

Option 2. is to do the ZZP z3 turbo kit (or get one for sale somewhere on the forums)

I would probably make a custom intercooling setup, I have some Intercoolers laying around from swaps on other cars anyway.
I would run the turbo with e85 (on bigger injectors

Future: rockers a TB, maybe methanol.

My bottom line goal is 300whp on a Dynojet more is better of course.

I Know that the turbo is the move for real power, but can i get close to my power figures by using e85 and an intercooler?

If i run 60# injectors, e85, an intercooler and turbo, what kind of HP would i be expecting?

    Same questions with the m90

I can do everything on the list for the m90 for about 1300 bucks

The turbo would run me 2900 assuming i buy new.

I suppose another option would be to run Methanol instead of the intercooler. That way I could still use it with the turbo, but get similar gains.

you could do what scott did and run an intercooler with water/methanol. with E85, I bet you would be close to 350 hp at the wheels.

What kind of pulley does that throw me down to? like a 2.6?

I wouldn't go smaller than a 2.8 on a gen 3, diminishing returns ya know. scott ported his heads and did rockers, and upgraded to a gen 5 with a N* tb and LQ4 maf.

Sounds like at that point im nearing the price of a turbo kit. (with the Gen 5, IC, and porting)

I wonder what kind of power i can make with E85, and meth on a turbo.

a new intercooler costs about 1000 and will make about 50 hp, a water/methanol kit will cost about 500 and will make about 20 hp, E85 is cheap, 60 lb injectors will run about 250 and will support about 50 hp. rockers are about 450 and will make like 20 hp. so there's 2100 dollars a good amount of hp at the wheels. you will need some transmission work with that combo, and will with the turbo as well, so consider that as well.

Yeah I totally get that the trans is going to blow. Im keeping that tally seperate from here. I thought meth allowd about a .5 pulley drop. My plan is to run 80lbs since im doing e85.

some people argue that headers are not necessary, you might be ok with just a downpipe. I run headers, but I've seen convincing arguments for and against headers.

If i run the e85, and the intercooler, and some rockers, seems like i could see 300whp pretty realistically?

meth let me go from a 3.2 on 93 gas, rockers 42 injectors, ported heads, fsic, added meth, dropped to a 2.8 and 21ยบ wot timing. up from 14.

since the gen 5 and n* swap i just did, my injectors maxed out on the 2.8 with gen 5, so i had to pulley up to a 3.0, since that blower swap my car feels every bit of 300 hp now. traction is like not there at all. and i make the same boost. 13 ish. the 2.8 made 15 at 5300 rpm on the gen 5. i had to let off i was still tuning in my maf. but the scan showed the injectors were over 100%....bummer, if i got 60 lb injectors i bet i could go 2.7 or 2.6 easy.

    Ok,

here is where i have landed, (with a few questions thrown in)

    ZZP FSIC 800
Modified fuel rail (scotty's method) 50
Injecotrs (is there any reason i shouldnt run 80s instead of 60s?) 250
zzp 1.9 rockers (should i go with someone elses? 300
    90lb springs and retainers 100
    Headers 180
    wideband o2 200
Fuel pump(do i need a fuel pump for this?) 150
    3.0(?) pully
    e85 ... yes

    Maybe:
Porting the LIM and SC myself
    Meth 350

that's pretty much my exact setup once I install the intercooler except ill have a ssic and I have 1.95 rockers a fuel pump is required even without the intercooler I needed an upgraded pump to get the full benefit of the rockers and people said #60 injectors on my setup was overkill so im sure they will be just fine plus ive seen some where bigger injectors create less mist or something and if youre not using pushing them then they can create less hp then if you were to use a size that would more appropriate just something I heard and #60s are a tad cheaper so I didn't argue haha also im on a 3.1 pulley without the intercooler with your full size intercooler I feel you could run a 2.8? or just run a ton of timing with 3.0

Maybe i get the injectors first, and see what i can run on e85. Or start with a 3.0 and if its all good drop to a 2.8. I know Scotty had issues on his 42s on pump gas, The 60s reduced 30% to account for e85 is about 42 (if i did the math right)

have you done a dyno, or any acceleration timing?

I dynod back before I installed rockers and a upgraded fuel pump and made 255whp and that was maxing out my fuel pump tune was done a zzp by tim but yea I first did all the supporting mods and maintence like headers spark plugs etc. tuned then dropped pulleys then a year later I did e85 and just got injectors tuned dropped some more pulleys. then did a fuel pump and rockers dropped some more pulleys a few months later and that's where im at now going to be installing the intercooler in a few weeks and putting on some wide tires and lightweight wheels once my current tires are toast so my trans dosnt hate me

How much of a difference did the rockers and fuel pump make in the but dyno? Seems like with the IC you should be at 300whp
