"machine the LIM". Seriously, you are just cutting a chunk of it out. Takes 5 minutes. Probably even cheaper to buy the cheapest harbor freight grinder than have a shop do it.

well I also have to cover the coolant ports which involves buying the correct size tap for plugs (I already have a nice drill) and I live in an apartment whatever grinder I use will need to be battery operated so it will cost more and not to mention cleaning the shavings out and just cleaning the part in general. do you think I could use the drill and just put a grinder attachment on it? or would clearance be an issue also im still unsure of what im exactly grinding is there a writeup some where or could someone provide a picture with a circle or 2 I read bills LIM thread but he didn't have pictures for machining for an intercooler if I recall

ive officially decided to my this build interesting after a dude on Facebook who i paid for lifters and spacers wasted 2 weeks of my time then said i dont want to do business with you pissed me off i found a set of cheap modded rails and a whole extra ssic kit ive decided to do a dual core ssic with phenolic plate build. it will involve a dual pass heat exchanger, vw rad, Bosch pump and Mercedes pump. its not so much a budget build anymore but still not a bad price for everything considering the amount of coolant that will be in the system. ive updated prices below.

    things I have bought
-short stack core with long bolts and 1/4 in. spacer $225
-Mercedes m-class electric water pump with mount and pigtail $15
-1.25 in. hose and front PCV hose free
    -coolant $30
    -vw radiator $40
-all hoses and adapters/fittings with water wetter $35
-found some old catch can mounts in my toolbox use them for the radiator free
    -coolant reservoir $5
    -modded fuel rail $120
-valve cover and RTV and elbows $40
    -junyard LIM to machine $30
-second ssic with bosch pump and dual pass $320
    -brake clean $10

    still need
    lifters
    LIM metal gasket
    Fsic bolts

running total: $750 still need $150 worth of parts but i can sell my old LIM and ssic bolts to cover and may be able to get a deal on lifters or Fsic bolts

installed the core finally only installed one as there was no way in hell I would be able to close my hood with 2 short stacks and I already spent the whole weekend running into other problems so I was just fed up and did one I had to hammer the hood for just one to fit I do still plan to run a fmhe and vw radiator on the same system and a boosh pump along with the Mercedes pump just wondering from you guys if the Mercedes pump would help or hurt? I know its original purpose is an auxiliary pump so I feel it would be doing the same in this scenerio

both 3/4 just like the bosch pump but the pump itself is about half the size of the bosch pump

I doubt that's correct. It's probably more like 9 amps. So, if that's the case, it will probably help some, but I doubt much.

almost finished over the weekend just have to wire up the pump and fill the system with coolant I ended up only doing the vw rad which seemed really nice as its a tube and fin design and has A TON of fins and bosch pump as I didn't have much room and best cutting tool I have is a hand saw and wire cutters lol but I mounted everything up pretty solid and have the coolant bottle in a nice spot plus I have probably over 10 feet in hose and only plan to drop from a 3.1 to 2.8 pulley anyway so I should be alright let me know what you guys think also I live in Michigan so it doesn't get crazy hot here haha our heat wave is like a regular day in the south

i run my ic pump off a 30 amp relay. why let it drain the battery on ya. ive also got mine running full time, keys on, its on. ive got a inline fuse off my battery to the relay so i can pull that fuse to kill the pump if need be.

yea I was going to use a relay as well that's why I didn't finish last night as I didn't know how to wire it up exactly with the relay and wanted to do it right. could I use a relay that I don't use from the fuse box? or are they not 30 amp? also I have a spare add a fuse lying around and just about every amp fuse that I would need would I need anything else?

i wired it up just like you would a fog light kit. thats where the relay came from, a fog light install kit. or you can just buy one.

i have a relay like this, i used a self tapping screw to mount it on the strut tower. GRAINGER APPROVED Automotive Relay, 12VDC, 40A '@' 12V, 30A '@' 12V, 5 Pins, SPDT, Pin Config':' B1, Application':' Change Ove - 5RLU7'|'5RLU7 - Grainger

they sell the relay with a pig tail or you can buy female ends and crimp em on the your own wires you cut to size. how i did mine.

Cool im banging it out now just making sure I'm okay to replace the "switch power" with an add a fuse on the fuel pump fuse and just putting 2 15 amp fuses on that add a fuse

thats what i did, no on/off switch, used the wiper fuse thats a key on only fuse with a add a fuse. this way the pump is always on when the key is to run.

I'll use the wiper fuse then too if I screwed anything up some how a wiper not working is much better than a fuel pump lol
