    Hey guys,

I apologize if this has been talked about before, I just can't seem to find the definitive answer I'm looking for.

I'm aware that the Gen V blower is a more efficient design and am aware that the L32 is more prone to KR. I was originally going to do the work to drop to a 3.4" pulley in my '06 GT...but after doing some reading, I've seen a few places that say that dropping to a 3.6" in an L32 yields the same results as dropping to the 3.4" on an L67. Can anyone chime in on this.

Secondly, I have a FWI, 180* thermostat, Autolite 104's and a front PLOG...I was considering bypassing the 3.6" and dropping to 3.5" pulley...obviously I would need a good tune but do you guys think I would be safe going this root without doing rockers or an IC? Would probably need at least headers no?

I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on this car...just wake it up a bit. Any info would be a huge help

    Cheers,
    Matt

you'll make more power on a bigger pulley with no kr than a smaller pulley with kr. headers are cheap, like 300 bucks. if you have an mps, why not drop to a 3.6" pulley then scan for kr and if you don't have any, then drop to the 3.5" pulley.

    3.6 is about it.

meth is doable but it needs custom tuning. aka you need your own tuner, or have a local tune it. with just meth and add a 3 inch down pipe i bet you can run a 3.2 pulley.

I put a 3.5 on a car 2004 gtp (gen 5) with sd headers, and a huge fenderwell intake, and the other small things you metioned I where I live it never gets real hot but when it got above 95 degrees it would have like .5 knock

Thanks for the info guys. I've got a line on some SLP headers on the cheap so I might just go ahead and pick those up to be on the safe side.

Would is be a press on or MPS? I'm looking to go MPS but its not mandatory that I do. I would need a puller though

As soon as it warms up around here, I'm putting headers, Autolite 104's, water/meth injection and a 3.4" pulley on the '04 GTP. I'm looking into Intense Performance for the tune.

you might have better luck if you buy a tuner from intense and his tune, then make custom adjustments to the fuel yourself. you will need to cut fuel because that's how water/methanol works.

you "NEED" a wideband afr gauge before the meth, and you need a in car tune for the meth. its just maf adjustments, but you still need a tuner in hand to even do remote tuning.

I'm not doing straight meth, gonna do 30 percent meth, so it won't really affect AFR's too much. I've got a couple buddies with supercharged Cobalts that have run this setup with no problem and it does really help cool down the charge. You can touch the supercharger after a dyno run and it's barely warm.

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge here but when getting the car tuned with meth, would the tuner not just read AFR from the program (HP tuners or whatever) and adjust accordingly to that? I'm assuming that most people are just running an AFR gauge for piece of mind?

the tuner will read the commanded afr and the narrowband gauge, which isn't always accurate. you have to make the adjustment yourself. there isn't anything automatic about tuning.

meth adds to the afr, the tuner cant see actual afr with out a wide band plugged into it. 30/70% meth with add a lot to the afr.

you need to remove fuel from the maf till your afr is in the 12's, then turn the meth on, it will lower the afr to 11's where it needs to be. from there you need to fine tune the maf some.

this is from one of my last scans from retuning meth and a N* tb with a gen5. see the bottom row, commanded afr is set to 11.4 in the tune, then you got wb error, then in red the actual wide band reading from my wide band. the wide band didnt get to 11.4 on its own. i had to make that happen.

if you just spray meth you'll be super rich on the afr and the car wont be fast at all. its rather slow when its flooding out.

i'm curious how you are going to mix the water/methanol 70/30.

30% meth is 70% water per gallon. where 50/50 is just that 1/2 gallon to a 1/2 gallon.
