Thanks for all the help so far guys!
I have to put the re-assembly on hold until I get my new UIM gasket form RockAuto.... it's on the way..
And I get back from a trip I am going on .....
Hopefully the second one they send is the right one .....
You can see why there is some confusion about which one is the right one, Felpro has two different gasket designs
with the same PN ,,,, This Amazon link shows the two ..
Amazon.com: felpro ms96789: Automotive
I will let you know how it all goes when I get finished.....
why are you buying another kit, or a kit at all? the sc gasket is like 11 bucks at your local parts store, the t stat gasket is like 2 or 3 bucks, cant see the tb gasket costing more then 5 bucks.
hell you can rtv the tb on there really.
They all had it as a kit..... Autozone, O'Reilly, NAPA. RockAuto had the best price for the kit.... $28. The uim gasket for the 2004 - on must be more expensive than the one used
on 2003 and older..... I'm getting a free replacement from RockAuto....
OK. I am back from vacation and finishing up the LIM gasket replacement on my 2004 GTP.
The LIM and S/C are back on. I did find the same type of S/C gasket that was on the engine previously, the one with the two o-rings attached
to it, at ZZP.
I am now up to putting new o-rings on the fuel injectors. The old ones are black on the manifold end and blue on the rail end.
They both looks to be about the same size as far as the inside and outside diameters and the cross-section thickness.
However, the ones that came with the FelPro LIM gasket set are of two different sizes, one has a thinner cross section than the other.
They are obviously not the right ones for this application.... possibly the thicker cross-section one is, but not the thinner one.
So, where have you found the right o-rings ? And who is the manufacturer and PN ?
My engine is stock .... The car is a 2004 GTP Comp G model.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
The injector o-rings need to be bought separately. The kits come with similar looking, round o-rings but I remember none of those fit, like you said. I bought the ones for my injectors at Advanced. They were also Felpro. Don't have PN for ya, but they should show up in their computer systems once you tell them it's a 3800 engine.
Buy extra ones, they like to tear when you're pushing in the injectors.
