hey everyone in the middle of an install and wanted to finish before new years but im installing 1.95 rockers i bought off a member i believe this is the link

    Holden/Buick Series 2 Ecotec V6 3800 Pro Street 5/16" Rockers 1.95:1 Ratio (EF) YT6662 - yellaterra

well after torqueing 2 of them down i noticed that they have play in them? i assume it could be a wrong length push rod but this dosent make sense as the previous member said they fit on his did i install something wrong or will they magically not have any play when all are installed?

need help with this quick im a series 3 engine btw

I would certainly check pushrod length and lifter preload if I were you. I know a lot of people run it and call it good, but in my experience most people are not running the proper preload.

install the rest of em, take the spark plugs out, v/c's off still turn the engine over by hand, socket on the old crank bolt works. make sure they all move up and down. if they all move freely, crank it with the start a few times for like 15 seconds at a time. this should build up your oil pressure and make em tight.

If those ones that you linked are what you’re using, you definitely need different pushrods from stock.

I’ve got the YT 1.7’s I bought from intense and they give you oil restricted push rods that are a little different length with them.

I emailed Intense and Yella Terra back when I was doing the install if they’re necessary because I didn’t like the sound of oil restricted back then, and he told me that I had to use them cause they’re different length. Stockers are like 7.05” and the ones that come with the rockers are 7.3”.

I never tried it with the stock ones, so I don’t know 100%, I’m just going on what intense and YT told me. Also I’m not sure if the higher ratio than mine changes things.

    hey everyone,

just finished putting everything together and after letting it run for 5 min i opened up the oil cap and checked the 2 lifters for any play multiple times and they were both tight as can be and yes the stock pushrods got picked up by the garbage man this morning haha thanks again for everyones input helped me out and put me at ease i will add i took about 4 or 5 days on and off to do this and my motor is pushing 185k miles so that could explain it haha but everything is running great now just burning off the excess oil that droped on my exhaust

enjoy that bit of extra power, when i was all stock these rockers were my first mod, they killed off 5º or kr on the stock tune.

Yea I'm going to test it out today even sounds different at idle! but just wondering since I did the valve stem seals as well is there some type of break in procedure like (example run the engine soft for 1000 miles) to get them to seal real good or is everything good. Would hate to spend all this time and my inner 20 year old runs the car to hard to soon and blow **** up because I wasnt patient haha

let her rip, no break in.

the new springs likely tightened up the valves, them old spring are shot to hell with all them miles. mine had 218,000 on em when i changed em. they were super soft next to the 90 lb springs.

don't know if im supposed to post it in the same thread but it relates so why not ive been snooping thru the forums and realized I might want to do my timing chain ive never done it and I cant imagine the previous owner did it with all the previous neglect ive spotted when working on this thing. regardless ive owned the car for 70k miles my question is what chain do I get with the 1.95 rockers and l76 springs? also how hard are they to do did one on my dsm (4g63 engine) back then when I did the valve seals since I needed to remove it anyway is it similar to that? other than the fact its a chain instead of a belt?

id leave it alone, they dont tend to fail unless you cam it and run stiff springs.

okay sweet I can save my money haha I was thinking that since I don't see to much about timing chain maintenance on these forums I thought maybe its not a big fail point thanks for the clarification also didn't know if the l76 springs were considered a "stiffer" spring or not. I was just told by a few people on here they worked good for the 1.95 rockers and were cheap so I was sold lol

I know this is a old thread but i am in the process of a 1.9 yt rocker build 90# springs zzp 2.5 dual pass intercooler kit and e85 coolant passages blocked and the coolant valley for the heads in the intake opened up ported heads ect. This motor has 230k on it so we will se how long she lasts. So this post was some good reading. Im not that active on here mainly facebook. Feel free to check my profile on here to see my car. I may up date my profile with new content.
