    Hi,
I am new to the forum, this is my first post. I just bought a 2006 grand prix gt for cheap. It has one code showing which is the p0171 which pertains to it being lean on one of the banks. When I got the car before I ever got the codes scanned I felt like it had a vacuum leak, but I didn't have time to figure out. After I got the code I decided to over all the vacuum lines and just thoroughly check everything out. I found that the short piece of rubber hose from the air box to the MAF had a huge 4 inch rip down the side. I'm assuming this is why it was throwing the code, but would like a second opinion.

dont think thats it. check over all the rubber ends of the plastic hard lines, they crack. also check for a small line off the fire wall side if the intake next tot he brake booster hose, that one likes to break off too.

if you cant see any thing broken, spray carb cleaner over the top of the engine while its running, the idle will jump up if you hit the leak.

Cool thanks. I checked all the vacuum lines pretty thoroughly. All the plastic lines and elbows look pretty new. Ill go over it with carb cleaner after I get the rubber intake piece replaced. It idles rough when you start it, which goes away id assume when the ecu starts making adjustments, but seems to run good other than that.
