I did the same thing last spring. I installed the belt and never had any trouble with. I only had it on for a couple months though. I thought I read somewhere that the gatorbacks caused slipping issues?
I had a gatorback with a 3.4 with no problems since andrew and I installed it this summer.
For the supercharger belt, gatorback is not favorable. Many people have had many problems when running a smaller pulley and a gatorback belt. They work fine for the accessory side, but they tend to slip sooner on the SC pulley.
As for good belt, most consider the NAPA/Gates belt to be one of the best. I run the Gates belt and they work great. I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Ran both when I had a 3.0 with no problems. IIRC it's under the 2.8 that you may have a problems, but this one of those doesn't really matter things. Luckily the belts are cheap enough, if one doesn't work out for you try the other.
NAPA belts are gates (napa doesn't make anything they just sell it with their logo on it)
