I am having a very hard time installing my engine. I can't get the engine and Trans to bolt up. Do I need to remove the engine mount or Trans mount to give myself more room? Thanks

you need to jack up the pass side of the tranny shaft, so its on a up ward angle, then lower the engine in on a angle as well.
if the pass side of the trans is not lifted up, its not going back in.
Thanks everyone. I have the jack on the driver side of Trans on the case. So tomorrow when I get back up to the car I will give it a shot on the passenger side. The bellhousing bolt holes are about a inch away from the block. But the front engine mount is off by a few inch's. I will update tomorrow. Thanks again
you leave the trans mount bolted in. if you un did that, not sure what the jack is doing over there?
when you took the engine out i bet the tranny dropped, im sure you heard or felt this happen, why you need to lift the tail shaft side up a few inches so the bell housing is on a tilted angle. once you get the two pins lined up you won the fight, mine wint in with a few good wiggles and it fell right in line, but i jacked the pass side of the tranny, then pulled the engine, and left the jack there, so all my angles were pre set already.
Scott you are correct. The Trans did drop towards the firewall when the engine came loose. I haven't pulled any mounts off. I just wasn't sure if I needed to. I will reposition the jack tomorrow to the passenger side of trans and try to reangle the engine. I know your right once it is mated together the rest is just down hill. Thanks again and I will let everyone know how it goes.
No I am not. The car is hour an a half away from me. I won't be there till tomorrow morning sh*t..
No wish I did. I have it resting against the engine but it is still pushed back towards the firewall. But it is lifted up some for it to rest on the engine hopefully that helps.
the passenger end of teh trans needs to be toward the firewall. Likely you are stuck on the nose of the converter and angles are off.
If the rear of the engine is lower than the front..you will also get caught up. The rear ear of the engine will sit on the trans case and keep you from lining up. I never pull mounts to get them together. But.. you likely will come down with the engine.. get them to come together.. get a bolt or two started...then lift the passenger end of the engine back up a bit to line up the engine mount.
I got it in and all bolted up. Still havent started it.The car is hour and half away from me so I don't get to work on it much. But it is in Scott's info helped very much thanks
scotty needs a gofund me account for all these donations piling up on here
