Thread: Engine problem???

I have a 2004 GT - automatic. For over a year, I have to step on the gas pedal most of the time to get the car started. My cousin has the exact same model and is experiencing the same problem. I have 120,000 miles on my car; half on my cousin's.

Recently, my car's engine warning light would come on and off. In addition, I stopped at a light and was about to go when my car was traveling probably approx 1 mph even though I tried to press on the gas to rev it up - the pedal felt resistant. I had to turn off my car and re-start to get it to run like normal. Since then, my car jerks just a little bit (happened twice?)

I am not to sure as what to do but run a scan and re-post/an admin move this to the correct engine section where you will get much more help.

Sounds like you have a tps sensor going out. Get us the codes and we'll go from there.

It's an electronic throttle body. No TPS, I don't think.

Seems to be a common issue with the Series III engines (drive by wire). They have no idle air controller, so when the throttle plate gets dirty the PCM might not open it enough for idle. Cleaning may help.
