    My buddy at lkq gave me two cold air intakes don't know what they were off of but I cut them n used a rubber coupler to connect I the middle and the filter is halfway in the fender. How good do you think my setup is??

    legit diy intake. the words "gave me" make it even sweeter.

    is the ait sensor hidden somewhere? if its not installed, you'll want to make a hole in the rubber sleeve, or the pipe and install it.

    The pic was a mach up, the iat sensor is installed properly about mid way between throttle body n middle coupler

    Can I buy a 90° for the 4" pipe I'm using? I'd like to get the filter down into the bumper any thoughts ideas?

    I do have two 90° rubber couplers haven't tried yet ,it just didn't look like it would fit with the fender bracket in there

    the street elbows are 3 inch on the thin side, the fat side is 4 inches around the outside.

    if the pipes you have are 3 inch you can use another coupler to join them, then put the filter on the 4 inch side of the elbow.

    id try to find a 4 inch metal elbow then. unless you can find a 4 inch on both sides elbow at the home depot or lowes.

    If you have a pep boys nearby they sell the spectre aluminum bends, however you won't get far in that fender without cutting the fender brace.

    keep in mind the inner fender well shields almost have a funnel that collects the water slinging off yer tires and throws it directly on the FW mounted filters on those setups, if you do this make sure you use a mastic pad or some sort of sealant to seal the upper portion of the inner shield to keep the 50-100mph water from getting to it.

    up here in the salt belt it eats the metal filter screens and corrodes the **** outta the maf sensor (seen two dead lq4's and one oem due to this)

    Because it actually matters on an N/A car, unlike a blower car where the air is turned to magma anyways.

    meh I had open cone, cai, now im back to stock.
    I noticed absolutely 0 performance on any setup, more noise with the open cone and cai though

    Exactly what I was going to mention, pick up a roof baffle meant for chimney's at Home Depot or somewhere similar, trim to fit, and you've pretty much completely sealed it in.

    I used a low-profile Spectre cone filter that I was able to completely inside the fender (though it's a bit annoying to get in and out), but I feel like the roof baffle would have still worked perfectly with a full-sized.

    I added some weather stripping to seal all the gaps in the wheel arch liner that are up by the filter, so even after driving in absolute downpours the filter is nice and dry.

    whats a baffle? i did roofing for 25 years, never heard of one. the part in the pic posed is called a "pipe boot flashing" they come in plastic, or metal flat part, they all have a rubber seal for the pipe.

    you trim the boot to fit your pipe. if its not made for a 4 inch pipe, some are just for one size others you can trim to fit, theres lines to trim on.
