Ac clutch Help

my ac clutch or compressor has gone out and its maybe a weird noise. at first i thought it was the belt of cousr it wasnt. so i looked closer and the pully on the clutch is kinda wiggling......... so is there a way to just take it out completely and place a pulley there so i can still have my stock belt or is there a way to get a smaller belt to work? im not buying a new compressor air dont blow out of the driver side anyway

but i dont care about that

BTW the compressor has been making noises for a while now its just worse now.

Please help!

Yeah, you can remove it and use an A/C delete pulley which lets you keep the stock belt.
I do believe it's actually an a/c delete pulley from a GM 2.8 v6 that people use that gets the job done if you have to order one from a parts store.

a member just changed the ac clutch while bolted on the car still irrc. theres a youtube vid shows how to do it and what puller you need to use. and how to set the air gap.

looked rather easy really.

thats the delete pulley, its not a zzp part only, there are others out there for sale. maybe cheaper.

Sure it's easy if you have the specialized a/c clutch pulling tool that he used from the shop he works at...
OP:The link I posted above is the exact delete pulley you need.

You could ask 02NavyBlue about the tool hes the one who changed his clutch. Might be able to rent it but idunno.

My clutch was bad, causing it to drag on the hub and make noise. You could tell because there was literally no air gap between the clutch and hub, I couldn't even get an .002 feeler in there. I may have been able to re-adjust the gap and call it done and it would be okay, but the return springs on the clutch were bad. I ended up getting a used clutch in good condition for free.

I jacked it up, removed the RF tire and splash guard, removed the a/c compressor nut on the front (with an impact gun, otherwise a clutch holder tool is needed because it spins with the nut). Screwed the tool in and removed the press fit clutch, installation is the same except you remove the bolt in the end of the tool and use a spacer. Pretty simple really, there is just enough room to work with it still on the car, belt still installed. I also used an angle die grinder with an abrasive wheel to clean all rust off the hub and new used clutch. Setting the gap with the new one is just using the installation tool until it goes on to the right air gap, keep checking and turn it a little further til its correct. Then put the nut back on, and done. The tightness of the nut won't affect the press fit.
