    I would appreciate if anyone could tell me if my transmission could possibly go out. I have a 2008 grand prix. I love the car I purchased the car with 36,000 miles. Prior rental car, should of never bought. Bought from shady local dealership. The car has been in the shop at least 30 times in 3 years. You name it, it has had the problem. Being a woman and all mechanics do not like to be told what the possible problem could be. Ya know What I Mean. Anyway I have had two torqu converters replaced and by two different dealerships and back in June the dealership wanted to replace the transmission then said it was a wire that needed to be replaced. I took the car last Monday they could not tell me what the problem was. Bringing back tomorrow. While driving usually it will lag and hesitate after it gets hot and going up hill. Will also do it going down the freeway at 65 miles an hour. It feels like the car is gonna die on me when it does this.

    Why are they so sure it's the transmissiomn and not the engine or something else? check normal stuff first. Plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter. Let us know all that has been serviced on the car so we can start eliminating some possibilities. Also, any check engine lights? If so, have the trouble code(s) pulled from the computer. Most auto parts stores will do it for you. Post up any codes you find.

    Without knowing what's been replaced, I wonder if the catalytic converter is starting to clog up. I know usually they work fine when cold but start to get worse when hot, eventually clogging up to the point where the car dies or has absolutely no power at all.

    Has the throttle body been removed and cleaned? MAF cleaned?
