a turbo is the big power maker for these cars. at the same boost level they make a ton more power.
look into the z7 kit at ZZPerformance
Because a supercharger is belt driven which requires HP generated by the motor to drive the pulley, and a turbo is using recycled exhaust which does not cause parasitic HP drain on the motor.
A supercharger, however, makes instant horsepower as opposed to a turbo which usually has a bit of a lag (size/type of turbo and your specific set-up will determine how much lag).
Instant power: supercharger > turbo
Total power: turbo > supercharger
At least that's the way it's always been described to me...I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong though.
Moved the correct section. Please familiarize yourself with the following:

do any of the vendors have 07 pcms out yet? turbo build is easily 10grand if not more. i feel thats a waste of money. youy can do bolt ons and have a quick car, or get a LSX car for FAST
What all is needed to convert my 03 gt to be supercharged? I have found a good deal on some superchargers... What all is needed to be done and changed to install the supercharger. I know the gtp's come stock with 270 hp. and the gt's come stock with 200 hp. I want to push at least 325 hp for now until I decide I want it faster...Please drop me some pms and let me know.
Thanks
Josh
97-03 GTPs had 240HP. 04+ Supercharged GPs had 270HP.
To do a real conversion of your non-supercharged block, you need to replace everything from the heads up. Otherwise you can use ZZP's SS M90 kit and the required parts they specify. This is nothing for the light hearted or inexperienced to try and do. You'll need access to someone who can tune, access to lots of tools, preferably experience working with engines in this way, etc.
oh i was told different well instead of paying big money on all that what is the best way to get some more hp...I got a K&N Air Filter in the stock box and Flomaster Exhaust all bolt on with the cat still on it...I want to get some more power please help me...Im new to the 3800 stuff...
Without a turbo or supercharger, you're probably going to max in the 240 crank HP range with your 3800. The record 3800 has about 300 crank HP, but that has tons of work and was built just to set the record.
If you want some decent gains to make it a little more spirited to drive, you'd probably like how mine is now. CAI, DP, Plog, HVTB, and some good tuning.
Man im lost with the CAI, Plog, HVTB i have no clue what that stuff means lol....Im trying to ask so I can learn some stuff about it... Should I Build my own FWI would that give me some hp and better gas mileage? Also remember I do have Flomaster Exhaust.. What can I do to get it to sound a lil better and get better air/fuel mixture to get a lil more hp outta of it also? Im tryin to find all the little tips just to get started on having a lil better performing car..
Here's my CAI (cold air intake):
ZZ Performance
Can you build one? Sure. It probably won't be as good at insulating the intake charge, and probably won't look as good if you're into showing your car. But, it'll function.
Plog:
ZZ Performance
DP (downpipe):
ZZ Performance
HVTB:
ZZ Performance
With all this you're going to want some tuning to not go lean when you floor it. Overkill Motorsports or Intense racing would be good places to get it.
Ditch the flowmasters. Get something by Magnaflow.
Air/fuel mixture is controlled by the PCM. Changing that requires tuning.
Catbacks don't really make HP until you're really modded. If you want to get one, you're only doing it for looks and sound.
I was thinking of goin with Magnaflow. I got my exhaust for $50 from one of my friends just so I wouldnt be running stock pipes you know. I have been reading bout Overkill pcm im really thinking of goin that route instead of zzp.
Unfortunately noone offers 07-08 PCM tuning currently, including myself We're on the list to beta test 06+ specific software but its been more than a year with no signs of progress on it from our suppliers.
We can offer you an 05 PCM for your vehicle but the fuel gauge will read backwards!
Intake, downpipe and highflow cat are your best place to start for now.
