Honest question. What's the pros and cons on topswap vs. complete L67 swap? I know the flex plates will have to be switched, maybe a few other things. I would rather find a used $400 L67 in the area than spend $1200 on a top swap.

Will higher octane help out with KR? Also... where would the MAP sensor be on an L32, since this thread seems to be supporting L67s more, and will the 2-bar MAP for an L32-to-L26 top swap need the different connector too? Or does ZZP offer a bootstrap adapter pigtail now? Sorry in advance for what seems like tired old questions (but like I said I didn't see any MAP Q's for 04+)!
I'll answer first question about octane! YES, higher octane gives lower KR. E85 is like 105 octane!
I need to replace my motor in a 00 GTP.Dropped a rod and am wanting to use a 97-03 N/A block for this heart transplant. If I keep all things the same save for the block and internals, is there anything I would need to do for tuning due to the compression ratio difference? Also, I know this is off topic a bit but I want to install headers. Will I need to change the down pipe to get rid of the u bend? I know these are probably newbie questions but i am not a mechanic, i just love messing with my car lol. Thanks in advance.
yes there will be extra tuning needed. if you are currently running just the stock pulley and adding headers you will still need to add rockers or another flow mod to safely run with the added compression. tuning will be a must. just for comparison, i am running a ported tb and blower, ported heades with high flow valves, headers, and 2.5" highflow exhaust. I had to do a good amount of tuning to get it all dialed in and make it a solid daily driver.
oh and the headers have their own downpipe. it will replace the secion that has the ubend
At the very least you will need to run a larger pulley and plog/DP if you do nothing else, the tune is a must no matter what. I'm running L32 heads, plog/dp, rockers, a ported blower, with a stock pulley. I've got headers that I still need to throw on and a 3.6 pulley.
Ok I'm am gonna do a top swap for my base 3.8 2005 grand prix. Wat is the 1st thing that I should start with?. I reviewed ur list on what I need but still jus wanna clarify the steps cuz mine is a 2005 base
Ok thanks man
Ok so now that I think bout it I got 165000 miles on my L26 NA engine I should jus put a whole new engine in right?. I should jus rebuild a L32 it would be a wiser move u think
Cuz I'm gonna go and start grabbing parts
165k is nothing, don't try to rebuild, it wonk work out unless you drop a lot of cash at a machine shop. Seriously, 165k miles is not a lot for these engines.
Thanks good to kno wasn't sure how they fit with mileage
Still tho if I'm gonna do this car over I want the engine bay looking clean and badass
Jus need a good understanding on the swap for the engine I got cuz I see alot of swaps but not the one I got so I'm kinda lost still reading alot tho
