Hello, im relatively new hear, and i have a 2008 Grand Prix 3.8l V8 non-supercharged. Anyways the other day i was parked beside my buddies truck talking to him and i noticed a whine. i didnt think it was my coming from my car but i revved it and it got louder almost sounded like a supercharger whine. so i open the hood and take a look and have my friend rev my car... i couldnt figure out what the matter was. so i drove a while but it still was there. then i shut the car off and turned it back on. It was gone, no more whining, Anybody know what could have caused this? Thanks!

2009 mazdaspeed3-self tuned Cobb AP,Custom water to air IC,3" intake, 3" DP' 3" exhaust, Forge Wg actuator, Ricer mods, Cobb suspension
2004 mazda 3-custom big turbo kit, blew up 4x went back stock (Details/pics ask)
1997 GTP S/C 3.4 pulley, intake, all i know so far.

You power steering fluid is low. The reservoir is below the alternator. You'll need a long neck funnel to fill it.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

It was more generally toward the passenger side engine bay, aka where the belt is, i didnt think about the power steering being low, i havent check it in a long time since its in such a hard to reach place.... I will look at it asap, Thanks guys

It seems to happen to almost every grand prix five years after leaving the factory. I wish I knew why, since the fluid seems to simply vanish - no leaks. Maybe it gets absorbed by rubber.

i see, yeah i unscrewed the reserve coolant tank and carefully moved it so i would have better access to the power steering reserve and it was low, i think i have found the problem hopefully lol but how come once i turned my car off then back on the whine stopped? thats what im wondering....

Not low enough yet to cause a constant noise.
