Thread: Dog Bones

Could someone help me out on this. I want to get the shorter dogbones from zzp. The billet aluminum ones but they are $132. I could make my own easy cause I work in a metals shop. What I need to know is what are all the dimensions of the stock dog bones.

1" shorter, so just drill two holes 1" farther back, those are my plans when I go to lower the car since my current dog bones are painted the way I like them.

I think you'd need to remove some metal, too, to fit over the clamshell, right?

yes, you have to cut the excess off. or you go to a junkyard and snag them off a montana mini van for $4 since that is what they are.

however, the real question people should be asking is WHY you want these. seriously, why?

lowering springs. That is why am getting the shorter dogbones. I heard you can just use dogbones and not mess with any mounts because the bones pick up the motor enough for lowering springs.

depends. most of the vibration issues come from busted motor/trans mounts and worn axles. it helped me on my car with 3/4" shorter dogbones, but doing it again i would do it the right way and do the spacers for the mounts.

I lowered my car.

Never needed shorter dog bones.

Don't buy 'em until you need em...and like Todd said, just cut em and drill a new hole. Free.

and to add to it, the aluminum ones from zzp **** **** up dont they? they dont fit right or some **** like that ive heard

So i think ill just skip the dog bones and just put in the lowering springs from what you guys are telling me.
