Thread: Making the L36 more powerful...

That is, without doing the top end swap to the L67.

My question is : Is it possible?

Since it cost around 2000$ to get everything needed for it, I'd rather wait till I get the money for it, or, to switch car entirely next year.

In the mean time, I was hoping to find some cheapers mods that would be possible on the L36 my GT have.

What I have actually is just a new intake. (The sound is amazing)

Also, second question : Since my first gear goes up to around 6k rpm, making the wonderful 3800 roar, it accels very fast, but once the second gear kicks in, it slows down, and change gear rapidly, without any good song. I know it's not a manual car, but I was wondering if there was a way to make the RPM go higher on the other gears too.

I would like to supercharge, but what I gathered for the price was around 2000$ shipped, unless there's a cheaper alternative to zzp.

As for my intake, I have some cold air already. As for the exhaust, I'll be switching the whole line maybe in September.

As for right now on the N/A L36, Nixon, you mentioned Tune and stiffer valve spring, those would fix my shift point "issue"? Where would I be able to get my hand on those, could go look at the auto part shop today though.

Also, I may sound like a noob (But I'm new to this whole 3800 engine modding) but what is the cam/rockers thing you mentioned?

And Josh mentioned about the HV3 insert, is that one worth it?

that "slow down" is just that...the car is slow. trust me i know. Do a whole L67 swap. It shouldnt be anywhere near 2K. I also spent less than 2K on my top swap. And I overpaid for a lot of stuff, but i know its done right. you can find a used L67 for like $500 at the MOST. as for naturally aspirated mods, HV3, headers, tune.

N/A cars are always slow...even the fully built non-bottle fed ones ran 13's.

Now you make me really insterested for the l67 swap, where did you get your parts if I may ask?

As for the used L67, you mean the whole engine? Mine only have like 159,900KM, and is really clean. (But is just a slow N/A)

I bought my parts from the for sale section on here. I got all the gaskets from W body store. And 2 daily trips to the auto parts store for like 2 weeks straight haha.

And the only reason I say whole engine swap is because its somewhat easier and cheaper.

Mhmh what was your final cost?

About $1500 id say for everything in my sig. if not more.

If anything OP where you cant afford everything yet just slowly mod your GT with mods you can carry over for a top swap.You can work on your exhaust now either headers or downpipe and plog.Then other little things like rockers, shift kit, poly mounts,etc. Just suggesting

This^ and aeroforce guage has also become very helpful with solving issues that arise after the top swap. Or if you buy a used HV3 you can probably sell it for almost the same amount when you are done with it.

Mhmh yeah I was planning on working out the exhaust soon enough.

Speaking of it, any suggestions?

As for the HV3, I'm probably going to get one in the mean time.
